Re: Assault on the Capitol (DC)
I never say anything nice about Mitch McConnell, but he did the right thing by insisting the Senate meet in the Capitol to finish the electoral results after the building was secured, and he gaveled the chamber to order almost an hour before Pelosi did the same in the House.
In maybe 10 or 20 years, I might try to think of something else nice to say about him.

Foggy,
I agreed with your comment about Mitch McConnell doing the right thing for once. I think it was to keep himself in power and not for altruistic purposes.

I recall for a very brief period many Republicans were on the correct side of the issue. That wore off as time passed, and the story became corrupted into "tourists", etc.Tiredretiredlawyer wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 10:27 am Foggy,

Windermere officer, former Apopka officer arrested on charges stemming from Capitol riot
A father and son, both with law enforcement backgrounds, were arrested and charged Thursday with taking part in the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
Officer Kevin Tuck, who resigned from the Windermere Police Department, and Nathaniel Tuck, who was an officer with the Apopka Police Department, both walked out of the federal courthouse in Orlando Thursday afternoon.
Windemere Police Chief David Ogden said a fellow officer brought his concerns about Kevin Tuck to his immediate supervisor about his role in the violence at the capitol.
The FBI was contacted and was told they would offer transparency and full cooperation into the matter.
According to court documents, Kevin Tuck is facing charges including obstruction of an official proceeding and disorderly conduct in a capitol building.
According to police, Kevin Tuck denied being inside the Capitol and stated he attended a political rally.

Police said Kevin Tuck did not notify his supervisor he would be attending the event.
His son, Nathaniel Tuck, is also facing similar charges.
Prosecutors said Nathaniel Tuck forced his way into the Capitol.

Jim Jordan tried to condescend to Liz Cheney during Capitol attack. It didn't go well for him
Yet another behind-the-scenes book about Donald Trump’s final months in office is coming out, and this one, by Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker, has a spectacular moment between Reps. Liz Cheney and Jim Jordan. Cheney recounted the moment to Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Gen. Mark Milley on Jan. 7, the day after the attack on the U.S. Capitol.
”That fucking guy Jim Jordan,” Cheney, who was then still the third-ranking House Republican, told Milley. “That son of a bitch. … While these maniacs are going through the place, I’m standing in the aisle and he said ‘We need to get the ladies away from the aisle. Let me help you.’ I smacked his hand away and told him, ‘Get away from me. You fucking did this.’”
It’s just a few short lines, but there is so much here
