I made stroganoff last week, but not nearly that much!

I did make stuffed pepper casserole on Sunday and did make nearly that much.

We love that stuff but never knew the real name. We just call it cheater's stroganoff. It's on my husband's short list of "things he can't mess up" recipes.
Well, it is very possible to mess it up. At a camp I went to, they once did a ground beef stroganoff and used corn starch, and as it turned out, too much corn starch. It tasted fine but the smell was memorable for anybody who has ever used a pit latrine.

Oh, that's not even close to my stroganoff story.

My dad was a young Navy officer, and he invited the other officers from his ship to dinner at our house. My mom made beef stroganoff and it was a huge hit, they demanded she give them the recipe so they could have it aboard the ship.

But when the ship's cook made it, it was totally inedible. What went wrong? Well, the cook was not very sophisticated, and he had been 100% trained by the Navy, which didn't do beef stroganoff, and he didn't know what sour cream is.

So when the recipe called for sour cream, he used some actual cream and mixed vinegar in it, to make it sour. This worked, actually. The stroganoff was very sour.

There is no such thing as an 'air fryer'.

Well maybe if you pressure cook it for 8 minutes it will tenderize it.

Or head to the burger barn and bring dinner home.

On the Bill_g thread, we had a cheesy discussion regarding Satori cheese (made in Plymouth, Wisconsin). I am recapping here so as not to hijack that thread.

Normally, I don't really pay much attention to various store sales stuff. However, I was briefly in the fancy cheese section today, and Satori's stuff was buy one get one free. That got my attention.

So, it was a Cherrywood Smoked Cheddar and their Old World Cheddar for me. They were out of MontAmore.

Yeah. Mine was out of Montamore too. One piece of green label left, and then lots of their smoked cheeses. Not a fan of smoked cheese. I have not tried their smoked cheese. Maybe they do it right, and I'm missing out.

And you are welcome to discuss cheese or turkey tracks or bicycle wings over at my place. We're non-denominational. Which reminds me - I need to clean up the coffee bar ....

I was trying to keep the food in state for you, but I will threadjack if I need to talk about Deschutes Brewery or Tillamook Ice Cream (which I passed on today since I try to limit myself on those things).
