That actually will be used to defend Robinson. "Sure, he may be a sex addict and a Nazi, but at least he didn't damn America!"

So much dirt has been reported on this guy that the latest doesn't seem surprising.

I wonder what is wrong with him. He's been over the top and then some for years.

Mr. Robinson is what we desiccated old literary ladies refer to as a transgressive character when we're writing our essays on 18th century English literature (or maybe our essays on the idealism of Star Trek).

I note that the GOP has developed an attractant quality which has resulted in drawing _all_ the transgressive characters in the universe (or multiverse, if it's ST) to its ranks. (cf fuckhead).

I further note that the modern, or "neo" GOP has set a new standard, by several orders of magnitude, when it comes to defining "transgressive." IOW, they boldly go.

I looked at his Wikipedia article, and he was working in a furniture factory in NC when the Stoneman Douglas school shooting happened, and he showed up at a Greensboro city council meeting or something and gave a speech about how much he loves gun rights.

And it went viral, and the NRA hired him to give speeches. So he decided to start a political career and here we are.

I'm summarizing, of course. Go to the Wikipedia, they have more.

The fact that this came out right at the day that he had to decide whether to stay or drop out smells of "dirty politics" to me. I wonder who were the guys tossing the dirt.

I saw a screenshot on the Xitter machine today that showed CNN didn't even scratch the surface of how bad it is.

I read a long piece where he described cheating on his wife with her own sister, while she was at work. Oh, you think that's bad? It was disgusting and degrading and I support sex between consenting adults, and I have had numerous sex partners and many various types of sexual encounters, but good lord. I would never do the things that he spent paragraphs describing and bragging about in disgusting detail. I had to go take a shower.

Not that I'm a prude, mind you. But if you have zero respect for your partner, how fun is that, really? Extremely fun, apparently. You can ask Mark. His own wife's sister, but there was no affection in the exchange.

I believe in love, and sex goes with love. But trust me, when Robinson described himself as a perv, he was just being honest.

Adam Kinzinger was on CNN panel last night. He mentioned that the stuff uncovered that could not be read on air was really, really bad.

Almost as bad as that Gaetz hairball in Florida. The christofascists don't seem to care how nasty their candidates are.

Their religion is to hate "liberals" or the "left." You feed that hate, and they're happy. Everything else is none of their concern.

IOW he is charismatic and a great extemporaneous speaker. I've seen that blend succeed in politics around here. Great for TV personalities too. Usually they end up not being people I like very much.

I saw that nasty stuff on the xitter. It was shocking and I'm no prude, either. I needed a shower after reading that.

So has anyone seen any magat's comments on that stuff? Are they making excuses? Calling him to drop out? Saying they don't care? I have curated my twitter so I don't see much if any maga posts.

“Republicans absorb a political shockwave in must-win North Carolina”
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx2kqqzx75wo

…“It was during a regular meeting of the Johnston County Republican Women’s committee that they heard the news.
All around North Carolina on Thursday, Republicans and Democrats alike had been waiting for what was billed as a bombshell exposé about Republican Lt Gov Mark Robinson.”…

…“But when the news finally did break, it barely caused a stir, at least not among this polite gathering of women in Johnston County.
“If the accusations are accurate, it’s something for him and his wife to deal with. It’s not my business. It’s a marital issue,” said Adele Walker, 52.
Soon afterwards, the group discussed their planned $200 donation to his campaign, in which he is already trailing the Democratic candidate Josh Stein, the state's attorney general.
“What we decided is that we’re going to donate even more money to Mr Robinson,” she said.”…

I'd be curious to hear their opinion on Clinton's blow jobs. I suspect it would differ greatly from this.

I wasn’t so much bothered by Clinton’s blowjobs as I was by his going on national television and effectively calling Monica Lewinsky a liar when she wasn’t lying. That was shameful, IMO.

Monica Lewinsky wasn't the one making the accusation; in fact, she herself denied the affair while under oath. Plenty to blame Clinton for, but not that.

That was also the period when K Street was having epic orgies, and Newt was having an affair as his wife was dying from cancer. The Family Values Contract on America Gang also wanted Clarence Thomas as a Justice, and Clinton's head on a pike. The GOP hated people pointing out their pecadillos, but they didn't mind broadcasting their opponent's.

This was about the time I realized politics is a full contact sport.

I think the whole Monica Lewinsky thing has been done to death. People feel so aggrieved by Clinton simply because the media has done nothing but harp on and on about it for decades while not even mentioning every other asshole lying through their ass about their affairs.

PLUS the fact is that the GOP had been harping on and on about every rumour about Clintons women for years before that, and there had not been a shred of truth about any of them. One women even claimed she slept with Clinton in a Hotel that hadn't been opened at the time she claimed the affair took place. People were sick and tired of the GOP crying Wolf with nothing there. Lewinsky was the one time they actually managed to get a Clinton affair that happened.

So, ya, feel aggrieved about Clinton if you like, but realise your feelings only because the other worse liars were never mentioned once by the media. Its a bit like the Dean scream. There was nothing wrong with it but it was played over and over AND OVER by asswipes.

And at the time the Republicans were boring the entire world about it, the Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of good Catholic Ireland was giving his Mistress an office beside his own.

Anyway, let Bill and Monica go. They have both more than earned their freedom from our jibes and jokes and superiour tut tuts.

The difference I tend to see is when a Democrat has an ethical or moral failing, they are pushed to the curb. Republicans, OTOH, circle the wagons to protect their guy/gal.
