The background is probably really ugly:

UPDATE: A sheriff in Eastern Kentucky has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting a district court judge Thursdays at the Letcher County Courthouse in Whitesburg.

Kentucky State Police said District Judge Kevin Mullins, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stines was charged with one count of murder in the first degree, according to a new release by state police Thursday night.

Sheriff might be a red neck.

Weird story but not much surprises me from that swat of the country.

Why are speculating about the sheriff being "one of those guys" or dirty (or the judge) while lacking any info? We are looking for an outrage before knowing any facts. We need to be better than that.

The sheriff could be a MAGA, Constitutional Sheriff, a member of the Weather Underground, or Shriner but we have zero idea what the argument was about.

No, I kid. You're right, of course.

And the truth shall ever come uppermost,
And justice shall be done.

Based on what's been reported, the judge didn't appear to be afraid of being alone behind a closed door with the sheriff.

One obvious possibility is the judge bopping the sheriff's wife.

'Course, on Fogbow it would be irresponsible not to speculate, but this one doesn't even have enough information for some great speculations! We need more facts! I'd like to speak with the manager, please. :bored:

I thought of that as one of many possibilities but didn't mention it because it involves a third likely innocent person. That's where I'd draw a line at speculating.

Apparently you've never been attacked by the 52nd armored Shriner brigade charging at you with those little cars and waving plastic swords.

I stand by my statement.

Yeah.. if we were going to jump to conclusions, the most likely one would be boring old 'personal dispute over money/family/land/etc'

A weirdness that may or may not be related is that one of the sheriff's deputies had been convicted of rape recently. He had been forcing females having trouble coming up with money for fines & ankle monitors to have sex in a courthouse office. Apparently the office he used was this judge's office.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That is a boring old trope - cops forcing women to have sex. We need a fresh speculation -

To combat his ptsd, the officer enrolled in a psilocybin therapy program, and during one of his recent sessions he discovered the judge was an alien lizard disguised as a people. So, the officer got his John Wick on, and stopped a take over of our planet. The man is damn hero, and we need to know the troof. Do your own research!

I considered revealing the conspiracy to extend the US waters to 2000 miles, but no one wants to hear that anymore. That left me with Eastern Russia seceding to become the 51st state, and the Mexican tortilla trade threat, neither of which are particularly sexy. I might get some fresh stories in next week. Supply chain issues. You know. It just hasn't been the same since covid.

It doesn't matter if the sheriff was a constitutional type or if the judge was bonking his wife. Something is wrong in your brainpan if your go-to is to shoot someone.

Count to 10. Take a breath. Yell. But when your solution is to shoot? Nope. You're in the wrong unless someone is pointing at you.
