Kinda funny that MAGA rails against sending kids to college because they’re “too woke,” and Barron ends up going to a super liberal and woke university.

Well, the kid *is* going to the B-school there, so maybe.

But I'll still say 'good on him'. I miss my NYU years tremendously. Three years ago, on my home leave between Bangladesh and London, I managed to spend 6 days in New York City, 4 of them to introduce my son and his sweetie to those areas. They left two days before I did and I spent my last two days wandering my favorite Washington Square Park-adjacent spaces on my own, in light misty rain (both days), feeling in my soul like I was 19 again and the world was my oyster.

I'm getting teary-eyed just remembering that time that I remembered, in effect.

It's weird because I really didn't hit my *social* stride until my grad school days in Gainesville, Florida, in the early 90s. That's where I made one of the groups of lifelong friends I've had since, got my heart broken by the childhood sweetheart who was supposed to take our reunion there as the sign that I was Always The One, and otherwise had some of my greatest triumphs and failures.

But in hindsight, NYU was really where I became the me I am today. I didn't realize at the time. I am considering eyeballing the cost of spending a few days there over the next two weeks before I head to my next assignment, thinking about all this now.

When Dennis and I went to New York to visit my stepsister, she took us to Washington Square Park. We sat there for a couple of hours just watching all the people, the street performers, the Labradoodles. It was great.

I know it's a shocker, but it seems Eric and Jr are getting involved in an area they know nothing about and it's not succeeding. Or rather maybe the scams are succeeding and perhaps that's the point. Business jeenuses these guys are not.

I am not anti-crypto at all; in fact we jumped on the bitcoin wagon early and it's done GREAT for us. The industry needs regulation. But these boys are idiots.

Less than enthusiastic applause for her pronouncements (all her sentences sound like pronouncements - they seem workshopped as applause lines).

When she mentions the prosperity that turmp will bring back, she crosses herself on the word "prosperity" - like some kind of Catholic prosperity gospel. She crosses herself again at the end of her speech. Her motions look very awkward to me based on what I've seen my actual Catholic friends do. Maybe someone can weigh in on the sincerity of her motions. Whatever the opposite of charisma is, she has it. IDK if it's drugs or mental health issues, but she just seems off, human being-wise.

Being an atheist, the obviously phony crossing of herself stood out like a sore thumb. I can only imagine how upset clear-eyed Christians must feel. Then there is the grotesque makeup and red dress. Like Missus Mephistopheles. Hansel and Gretel beware.

Total fakery. She doesn't know how to do it. I know how even though I have not been a practicing Catholic since I was a young pre-teen child.

Other than the overall stiffness and general look-at-me puffery, I don't see what she is doing "wrong" when making the sign of the cross and I'm a cradle Catholic. I have no idea how devout she might be, but she is Catholic. My dad always crossed himself in a very precise and formal way too, but without the self-aggrandizing attitude she has. She makes my skin crawl anyway.
