Vance and FoxNews is trying a pull a "stolen valor" assertion on Governor Walz. An excellent article which talks about Walz' service:

'Citizen soldier' Walz honed leadership in uniform

Retired United States Army Lieutenant General Mark Hertling tweeted this in response to criticism of Walz' service -

Mark Hertling
@MarkHertling

It’s unbecoming and unprofessional for anyone - especially veterans - to openly disparage anyone who has served in uniform.

I’m personally very thankful for all who have worn the cloth of our country - for any amount of time - and who have served in our professional force.
Ok, I'll make this a bit longer because I have to include this. Earlier Mark Hertling tweeted -

Many followers not familiar with the military are asking me “so what’s the big deal about a command sergeant major?”

Walz joined at 18 as a private. Rose through the NCO (sergeant) ranks, each requiring extreme competence at increasingly demanding jobs with more people & responsibility at every rank.

When you reach “Master Sergeant” you are selected to serve as a First Sergeant (1SG) of a unit…if you’re good enough. Then, those 1SGTs compete for selection to Sergeant Major. Only the best Sergeant Majors are selected for Command Sergeant Major (CSM) billets.

CSMs serve as the senior enlisted person in the unit and the advisor to Commanders at battalion and above. Having served with dozens of CSMs as my unit & command “battle buddy” I will attest they were all awesome.

They know what they’re doing. They uphold standards. They speak their minds to all ranks (private to generals). They’re not afraid of getting bad news because they know how to fix things when they go wrong. And they serve the command (their commander and their soldiers) with a selfless integrity and a complete dedication.

During social events and informal occasions, they’re usually a whole bunch of fun. And they always have great stories. But they’re always professional.

So, those are my thoughts on Command Sergeants Major. While I don’t know the details of @GovTimWalz career wearing the cloth of our country, just the fact that he volunteered to serve and wore the CSM rank tells me a lot about him.
Tim Walz’ Golden Rule: Mind your own damn business!

That's an awesome and accurate description of a CSM. Inspiring just to read. He spent 24 years as a competent, dedicated, patriotic soldier.

Related, in response to that look, I've seen say people "don't tell me she's childless" or "don't tell me she's not Black."

Substantially, her response that talk like that will get her opponent elected is both accurate and resonated with the crowd.

And people have noted its telling they don't make that heckle at his rallies.

I think it was about 8 people chanting something along the lines of:

“You can’t run, you can’t hide. We don’t vote for genocide.”

I've seen that look from black women many times, usually followed by a long, slow uuuuuh huh.

Back when Sscrubs was on the telly, there was a nurse whose character's seemingly only purpose was to do just that, and she nailed it. She kept those residents in line.

Around here it’s worse… it’s a nasal “Mmmm-hmm!” Accent on the second syllable. Everyone within earshot knows somebody done f’d up.

Shame on me, I remember back in the mid-90s being so impressed with how down-to-Earth non-Hollywood he was as he was getting famous. Like, there was literally a time when he told an interviewer for -- I think it was TV Guide or one of those ubiquitous magazines -- that he had to cut the formal interview short because he promised a buddy he'd help with some around-the-house chores, but that the interviewer was welcome to come with him and keep chatting. And that struck me as 'guy who didn't forget his pre-Hollywood friends when he became famous'.

Of course, I also went through a time in the 90s when Steven Seagal was my favorite. So I guess either these guys are really good at masking or I'm really bad at noticing until it gets obvious.
But the sunshine aye shall light the sky,
As round and round we run;
And the truth shall ever come uppermost,
And justice shall be done.

I didn’t know who he was. I had to google. I still don’t know.

He was Hercules on a cable TV series decades ago. He clearly couldn't act but he was hot.

Now that I'm older and wiser, I've realized that winning the DNA lottery isn't what it's chalked up to be. He's a jerk.

By the way, the photo he uses is probably 20 years old. He has not aged well.

Listening to Harris and 20,000 hollaring Arizonans. Holy moly. This is amazing. 2008? Yes, and somehow more, because the fall into autocracy has been soooo awful; but also because this has reawakened a need and a hope that was extinguished in Nov. 2016. I'm here to tell you that a woman president of the USA would be, will be, titanic.

I think "cease-fire now and bring the hostages home now" is a good line, as almost no one can disagree with those two points. Either side could argue that is insufficient (in either direction), but it lets her claim the peacemaking middle ground.
