Is this the musical that goes with JD Vance's Hillbilly Elegy?

Violent agreement. I generally don't care for this style of music, but I couldn't look away.

I fink its freaky and I like it a lot.

I keep forgetting that not everyone pays for YouTube. :-(

Maybe this one works:

If that doesn't work, at least Rick's video about it should:

Composer Christopher Tin conducting Christopher Tin, 'Waloyo Yamoni (We Overcome the Wind).' It is sung in Lango (from Uganda). If you hit close caption, CC, you can see the text in English (or look in the description).

Somewhere above, I posted his Baba Yetu (The Lord's Prayer in Swahili). Here is a version with him conducting it.

I could probably take a business deduction on my YouTube premium (and another streaming music service I have). I use YouTube music, and YouTube in part to research different ways of performing a piece (we used to have to go to the music library for this in college), and also to find new repertoire. I also have forwarded videos to choir members and others as an aid for something we are working on.

Not having to watch adds in YouTube speeds up this process.

Who is old enough to remember the Concert for Bangladesh with George Harrison and company? I'm seeing tracks on social media that it's going to be livestreamed soon. Have to admit, back in the day, I owned the boxed set on vinyl.

Well, I have the boxed set on CD and it is staring at me from the shelf as I type.

And I have ripped it to MP3 for listening in the car or at work.

It is a masterpiece.

How are they gonna "live stream" it? Especially since many of the participants are deceased.

For the first time, The Concert for Bangladesh, the GRAMMY® Award-winning album from George Harrison, Ravi Shankar & friends, is now available for streaming across all major digital music providers worldwide.

I could have misspoke when I said *live* streaming. Been a long day :bag:

My vinyl set is long gone, but the CD might be in my future :batting:

Japanese Release from 2005 - Remastered

That CD set linked above is at the high end of the price scale. There are others that are less pricey.

The LP box sets can be obtained for anywhere from $50 to $250. Obviously $50 ones are probably a bit worn compared to the likely 'near mint' $250.

I assume that this streaming release will be accompanied by a new round of LP and CD releases (maybe Mobility Fidelity could put out an SACD?), but I dunno who is doing it.

We will have to wait and see. I am definitely not going to buy all the parts for a new/old stereo system at my advanced age.

I've been tempted. The analog audio stuff I used to drool over is actually affordable on eBay. Except for speakers. Sigh.

Condo dweller, speakers are a problem without headphones. I'm usually pretty good with the music app on my Fire tablet or similar. If I get carried away and crank the volume, I'm only blasting my ears and not pissing off the neighborhood

Tonight is Ladies Night on the local Oldies Station. Their British DJ played this from 1975. How have I missed this until tonight?????? :?

All around my hat I will wear the green willow
And all around my hat for a twelve-month and a day
And if anyone should ask me the reason why I'm wearing it
It's all for my true love who's far, far away
Fare thee well cold winter and fare thee well cold frost
Nothing have I gained but my own true love I've lost
I'll sing and I'll be merry when occasion I do see
He's a false deluding young man, let him go farewell he
The other night he brought me a fine diamond ring
But he thought to have deprived me of a far better thing
But I being careful like lovers ought to be
He's a false deluding young man, let him go farewell he
And all around my hat I will wear the green willow
And all around my hat for a twelve-month and a day
And if anyone should ask me the reason why I'm wearing it
It's all for my true love who's far, far away
Here's a half a pound of reasons, and a quarter pound of sense
A small sprig of time and as much of prudence
You mix them all together and you will plainly see
He's a false deluding young man, let him go farewell he
And all around my hat I will wear the green willow
And all around my hat for a twelve-month and a day
And if anyone should ask me the reason why I'm wearing it
It's all for my true love who's far far away
All around my hat I will wear the green willow
And all around my hat for a twelve-month and a day
And if anyone should ask me the reason why I'm wearing it
It's all for my true love who's far, far away
All around my hat I will wear the green willow
And all around my hat for a twelve-month and a day
And if anyone should ask me the reason why I'm wearing it
It's all for my true love who's far, far away
