Time to wake up and get moving. A fresh disco redux from Foster the People.

Loved this when it came out, but lost track for a decade until I found the CD in the bargain bin at truck stop on vacation:

Another fun one.

Loved “The Parabola Rag”!!!!! I plan to get the music and add it to my stride music repertoire. Currently I have the first movement/section/part of Scott Joplin’s “Maple Leaf Rag” memorized and part of the second.

Nice find. And just in time for NAIDOC month too.

I wish I could play the didge. I played trombone in 7th and 8th grade and had the circular breathing down pat. I just can't do it anymore. But I did try - never could get it back. So I've got a beautiful concert quality didge (key of F) sitting in the lounge as a piece of art.

Sousaphiles can cringe if you like, but I like this. Wouldn't want to listen to it every day though. (Dont know how to embed a Book of Faces post just offhand, so you'll have to follow the link - if you are interested.

File this under WTF. I like it for the overall creativity, but it is definitely strange. YMMV

Played this at church yesterday for the Prelude (I was on piano with somebody else on Double Bass). Having trouble getting it out of my head.

For another place, we did an arrangement of Rachmaninoff's Vocalise using Double Bass and Organ. I don't have a recording from somebody else for those two instruments. I was adapting the Double Bass and Piano arrangement to replace the piano with organ, which worked well. It allows me to be smoother and bring out various lines on different stops.

Here is a double bass and piano version.

And on organ

The lengths are different depending on if you take the repeats, which we did not.

And since the piece has been arranged for nearly every instrument possible.

Here is Pan Flute and Piano

Oh yeah, theremin and piano

My brain zero'd in on the bassist's fingering. He played the third and fourth strings for almost the entirety of the piece. At 2:30 he dropped to the second and third for a couple chords, and then went back up to third and fourth.
