Cops driving unmarked car, not wearing uniform, on search for drugs
It sounded like the man and stepdaughter couldn't tell who they were and thought they could be carjackers (which is a daytime sport in some places). I'm not clear on why they chose them to chase, or why they thought they must have drugs. They sure seemed on a power trip, not acknowledging how innocent people who don't have experience with police would be terrified, especially the 17-year-old, given how they were acting.

Re Youtube thumbnails.

Yes, many times they are clickbait and the image never can be seen in the video.

Sorry, fact of life since creators are free to chose their own thumbnails. Mostly also with some text added.

Long is the time gone where Youtube woud autopick from among the first frames. Many times neither matching the content.

I saw a different video about this. The "chase" was about 1 mile, and wasn't much of a chase. It's pretty clear that the step dad and daughter were legitimately concerned that this was an un-marked vehicle and they had no idea who they were or why they were being pursued. The Cop-Splainin' cop told the Mom it was 7 miles, but that's not what he put in his report. To me it looks like the cops were on a roid-rage-escalating escapade for no particular reason other than they could. There did not appear to be any reasonable articulable suspicion for a traffic stop, much less a full on felony stop pointing guns at peoples heads and slamming people to the ground.

ATF and DEA :brickwallsmall:
Drunk Off-Duty DEA & ATF Agents Charged After Illegally Detaining Man At Bar

Red Zone Watch
19 Jun 2024

Bodycam from Brunswick PD at Buzzard's Roost in Hinckley, OH shows alleged drunk off-duty ATF/DEA/HSI agents illegally detain a man, reports show multiple charges on the agents, including abduction.

On April 26, 2024, Brunswick PD in Ohio responded to a disturbance call in the neighboring town of Hinckley. When officers arrived at the scene, they found two men on the ground, with one restraining the other. As soon as officers arrive, one suspect, identified as Dan Lajack, introduces himself to Brunswick PD as a DEA agent. The man on the ground with the victim was identified as Donald Kopchak, an ATF agent. The victim in this case is a male truck driver from Ft. Worth, TX.

The narrative shown in the video seems to suggest that the agents and the victims were both patrons at the same bar when the agents began to question the man about where he was from and his citizenship status. They believed him to be here illegally, are repeatedly seen saying that they believe he is Israeli, and they express repeated concerns that he could “blow up a mall” and similar.

Their ‘concerns’ appear to have escalated to the point that they identified themselves to the victim as federal agents, physically detained him and did not allow him to leave or contact law enforcement, and removed him physically from the bar with his hands behind his back before taking him to the ground and restraining him there until the police arrived.

In fact, the man appears to be a U.S. citizen who arrived here legally as a refugee from Eritrea and was just in the area delivering to a local grocery store. There is no suggestion that he made any statements or acted in any way to arouse suspicion, and police reports obtained from Hinckley PD show charges against the agents stemming from the incident.

It is unknown currently if the agents are facing any civil charges or administrative punishment for their actions, but updates will be provided as more information comes to light.

Former officers, victim’s family question actions by high-ranking Williams PD lieutenant

ABC15 Arizona
21 Jun 2024

It was a crisp fall day in Williams, a small city near Flagstaff, when police arrested a man named Brian Lopez for allegedly stealing a can of beer from a local gas station. “I heard a noise that I’ve never heard before. The sound I heard was his cranium, his skull hitting the sidewalk,” said former Williams police officer Nicole White as she described what happened to the man. White made the arrest in the middle of the afternoon on Oct. 20, 2022, not far from Historic Route 66 in downtown Williams, according to police records.

Charlotte Cop Caught on Camera Stealing Cash From a Detainee

PoliceActivity
25 Jun 2024
* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) *

Charlotte, North Carolina — On March 14, 2024, Officer Henry Chapman responded to assist an officer during a traffic stop involving a driver who was allegedly speeding and had an outstanding federal arrest warrant. The warrant specified that the driver had personal property amounting to $7,911, which came into Officer Chapman's possession as he transported the driver to the University City Division Team Office. According to the warrant, once at the office, Officer Chapman requested another officer to transport the driver to jail.

During the transfer, as the assisting officer began searching the driver, both the driver and the assisting officer heard a rubber band snap. The driver immediately accused Officer Chapman of stealing money that had been bound by the rubber band. The warrant details that the driver observed Officer Chapman with the money between his legs and noticed him moving his left hand towards the driver's door pocket of his patrol vehicle. The assisting officer corroborated the driver’s account. A sergeant approached the scene as the allegations were being made.

The warrant claims that Officer Chapman appeared nervous and fidgeted inside his vehicle before stepping out and emptying his pockets, stating he didn’t have any money. However, the driver pointed out the money in the door pocket of Chapman's patrol vehicle. The sergeant found $900 in the door pocket, as confirmed by the warrant. Officer Chapman denied knowledge of the money's presence but later admitted to taking the money, claiming he had no intention of stealing it. He subsequently apologized to the sergeant and two other sergeants. Following an evaluation of the evidence, detectives arrested Officer Chapman and charged him with one count of embezzlement. On March 15, 2024, the day after the incident, he resigned from his employment at CMPD. The criminal case is still pending.

FORMER CHATTANOOGA POLICE CHIEF CELESTE MURPHY INDICTED ON MULTIPLE FELONY CHARGES RELATED TO RESIDENCY FRAUD

By Rohit Mehta
Published on June 30, 2024

The landscape of law enforcement in Chattanooga is shaken as Celeste Murphy, the city's former police chief and former Atlanta Police Department deputy chief, stands indicted on multiple felony charges. According to the FOX5 Atlanta, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) began delving into accusations surrounding Murphy's claims of residency in April, spurred by a request from District Attorney Pro Tem D. Michael Dunavant.

The investigation uncovered Murphy's attempts to falsify residency documents, leading to a 17-count indictment laid out by a Hamilton County grand jury. She is charged with illegal voter registration, false entries on official documents, forgery, and perjury alongside charges of official misconduct. Facing these charges, Murphy resigned from her role as the head of the Chattanooga Police Department, a position she took on just over two years ago. After surrendering, according to WSB-TV, Murphy was released on a bond of $19,000.

Prior to her indictment and subsequent resignation, Murphy's law enforcement career was notable for its breadth and ascent. She first joined the Atlanta Police Department in 1997, rising to the rank of Deputy Chief before retiring in March 2022. Her appointment as chief of the Chattanooga Police Department marked a significant milestone as she became the department's first female leader. Documents from the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council obtained by Channel 2 Action News affirmed her status as "in good standing" at the time of her retirement.

The ramifications of the indictment are poised to ripple across both the Atlanta and Chattanooga communities where Murphy once served. Supporters and critics alike are forced to reconcile the weighty allegations with a career that had, until now – spanned nearly a quarter-century marked by service and progression within the law enforcement hierarchy. As the case proceeds, Murphy is expected to answer to the charges that have cast a shadow on her legacy.

It is a selective enforcement story.

Yes, it is illegal to eat in the paid areas of BART stations. But there are countless commuters who, for example, finish their breakfast in the stations or ON THE TRAINS.

It also is a pre-pandemic story. Post-pandemic, this, and other behavior, slides.

Body-worn camera footage shows Cranston traffic stop, officer assault

Cranston police have released the body-worn camera footage from the police officer who attempted to stop two shoplifting suspects last Sunday.

In the video, Officer Kayleigh Cooper, who is a three-year member of the Cranston Police Department, is shown telling two people suspected of shoplifting from lululemon to exit their car. When they refuse and begin to drive away, Cooper fires her service weapon at the car, allegedly in response to the suspects’ car running over her foot.

If a criminal harms a police canine, they get charged with injuring an officer. Just sayin'
Residents of small Missouri town angered over hot-car death of police dog
Several residents said the person responsible for the dog's death should face criminal charges.

Residents of a small western Missouri town are saddened and angered after a police dog died in a hot car.

The dog named Horus died June 20 following an overnight shift, Police Chief David Vincent said. In a Facebook posting on Wednesday, Vincent said he couldn't discuss the circumstances of the dog's death while the Missouri State Highway Patrol conducts an investigation.

"Horus was a great asset to our department and the community," Vincent wrote. "I trusted this K9 around my grandchildren and they adored him. I am upset and angry about what happened to Horus as everyone else is."

Several residents of the town of 5,000 residents that sits about an hour's drive north of Kansas City posted that the person responsible for the dog's death should face criminal charges.

"The officer should be charged," one man wrote. "Just as any member of the public would be if they had caused the dog's death. No excuse at all."

For now, Horus is buried in an unmarked gravesite. In another post, Vincent said an anonymous donor is buying a headstone. Vincent said city staff will maintain the site that will be "a place of honor."

DEA Caught Red-Handed: Airport Intimidation

Institute for Justice
11 Jul 2024

At airports across the U.S., Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents confront flyers as they are boarding flights and ask to search carry-on items.

These interactions are supposed to be consensual. But flyers often get the impression that they have no choice but to submit to a search.

IJ currently has a class action lawsuit against the DEA and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) over their unconstitutional searches and seizures at U.S. airports.
