My heart lept for a second when I read Mrs V joined No Doubt. I'm sure the music Mrs plays is a bit different than Gwen Stefani's.

A dazzling Hamptons beach surrounded by multi-million dollar mansions has logged some of the worst fecal matter levels in the country – a perennial problem locals have had a hard time flushing away.

Mecox Bay in Southampton last year landed in the top 10 of US beaches that tested positive for dangerous levels of enterococcus — an intestinal pathogen commonly used as an indicator of how much fecal matter is in water.

Enterococcus levels at Mecox Bay exceeded the amount considered safe by New York State standards in 46% of the tests undertaken in 2023 by the Surfrider Foundation, a water quality non-profit which samples beaches across the country.

“It’s one of the beaches where we have some of the most concerns because consistently we are seeing high bacteria levels that exceed the safe health standards for recreational water,” Surfrider Senior Water Quality Manager Mara Dias told The Post Wednesday.

After last night's heavy rain county authorities have closed north shore beaches to swimming until tomorrow morning.

This seems to be rule now. After a heavy rain two complete tide cycles are needed to wash away the runoff pollutants before it is safe to swim.

After 9 hours of insulation truck noise on Friday yesterday was mostly quiet. Therefore I fear that the lawnmowers will be out in force today.

The lawnmowers appeared yesterday afternoon as expected.

Yesterday evening I had gone upstairs to my computer room. After about an hour Mrs. V called up that there were blinking lights outside. I called down for clarification. Fireflies? Decorations? Police? Fire?

Not getting an answer I pulled myself up and went thru our bedroom to the upstairs front porch. Police.

Mrs. V was heading up across the Circle where some neighbors were gathered. She reported back. An AirBnB visitor in her cousin's cottage was creating a disturbance. Drugs? Alcohol? We don't know.

The annual meeting will be contentious this year. There was already a boundary dispute. Now some neighbors are mad at other neighbors who rent out their cottages when they are not using them.

Today we are the noise polluters.

Dirt running down our driveway has been flowing onto our patio for some time. Today we are having it dug up a bit and lined with bricks and filled stones with a French drain at the bottom end.
