Well this is exciting, even though Flag Football will not be part of the Games until Los Angeles in 2028.

However, there are 4 new sports in the Olympic Games:
  • breaking (breakdancing, the first dancing sport)
  • skateboarding
  • sport climbing
  • surfing
I don't know where you can surf in Paris, France. :confuzzled:

So that's fun. The show includes 329 events in 32 sports, so you can't possibly watch them all. Probably some streaming options, hell, I'm still watching football games from last season, I have about 50 games recorded in my YouTube TV library. Thus, if I decide I'd like to watch some canoe slalom races or a pistol shooting competition, I will probably be able to find them online somewhere. 'Course, if I decide to watch pistol shooting y'all can have me locked up for my own good.

Anyway, I am a fan of the youths of the world, and it will be a great break from polly ticks for a few weeks.
Edit: In the Los Angeles Games in 1984, I was studying for the California Bar Exam, but the women's marathon route was a block away from my apartment, so I took an hour break from studying and watched the women powering along the mean streets of Venice, CA. The Games come back to LA next time around!

When I was in Paris, I learned the sport of sidewalk slalom. Instead of gates to go around, they use merde.

The Olympic surfing competition will take place in Teahupo'o on the island of Tahiti in French Polynesia. The village annually hosts the Billabong Pro Tahiti surf competition as part of the Association of Surfing Professionals World surfing circuit.

No reports yet of dog poop in Teahupo'o.

There was a bit of controversy in Tahiti over Olympics prep. They wanted to knock down and rebuild an historic pier and the locals were up in arms. Dunno how it was resolved.

If'n Quincy Wilson finishes in the top three tonight in the 400 meter footrace, he'll be on the US Olympics team, and he's only 16 years old. Here's a gift link.

I love this. Olympic gymnast Suni Lee is a Minnesotan. For those who can't see Twitter, this is an overhead highway sign as you approach Minneapolis in I-35 - "Leave the flipping to Suni & Simone. Drive safe speeds."

My 3 year old great niece is taking "gymnastics". Mostly it's stretching, jumping, and walking on a balance beam which is on the floor. It's not quite as funny as t-ball, but at least it's indoors in this summer heat.

She is very smart (auntie thinks so anyway), but she is scared to death of doing a somersault! I was trying to "coach" her, and I showed her some videos of Simone Biles, and now she is obsessed as only a 3 year old can be.

The Olympic trials gymnastics coverage starts Thursday on USA Network and NBC. You can bet we'll be watching!

(I have faith that she will eventually do the somersault, but I'm not holding my breath. She didn't walk until she was 15 months, but her first steps she walked across the living room and into her bedroom. So she'll do it when SHE wants to!)

I think it’s wonderful how children’s abilities/attitudes so obviously vary from child to child, and how they can change so drastically as they age. A delight to watch.

I saw a couple of mistakes in that floor routine.

Biles should retire and let someone else have the team spot.

The next time someone else lands a triple-double in competition from the USA then let's talk.

Agreed.

I think Gretchen Whitmer is the better choice.

She jumped exactly 6.86 meters. Her reaction says it all. 👏
