Forget Pollen. This week, we had to rake leaves. These are not last year's leaves but this week's leaves (Tuesday night to be exact).

Two more cottages on the Circle are opening up today.

People walking and bicycling thru the Circle.

Lawnmowers mowing.

Radio reporting that AAA is expecting record Memorial Day traffic in NY this weekend.

It's 5-7-5 syllables. So ...

Wild turkeys have fled
Domesticated arrived

Radio reporting that the Bethpage Airshow (actually on Jones Beach) parking is full. Heavy traffic in that area has forced major LI highways to close. :o

The good news is that if folks are jamming Jones Beach they are not coming to the North Fork. ;)

Porch report-

Two more Circle cottages have opened.

Despite holiday weekend, workers are doing inside finish work on the cottage across the Circle. Furniture and appliances that were in storage are being moved back in.

Lawnmowers have stopped so I can hear the heavy traffic on the Main Rd.

Technically a season should be referenced.

So the last line should read

Burma Shave Summer

Because it can't compete with North Fork bourbon distilled using local rye and potatoes. ;)

I thought the distinction for bourbon was corn. Time for me to employ some Google Fu.

ETA: Food and Wine Magazine explains that bourbon must be 51% or more corn. The remainder of the mash can be any other grain. It must also be aged in charred new oak barrels. It does not have to be made in Kentucky, or even America, to be called bourbon.

After two great sunny weather days this weekend today on the actual holiday it is cloudy and cooler with rain on the way.

East End traffic is lighter than expected today. We may not set a new record.

Since the schools here don't let out for summer vacation until the 3rd week of June, tomorrow is a school day so many folk out for the long weekend will head home early today. Cool cloudy rainy beaches are not very inviting.

Now that the weekend is over we have our first day of summer weather. Humid, high of 83F.

Mrs. V is off picking up her oldest brother from his dialysis appointment.

I am waiting to observe the trash collection.

The excitement never stops on the Circle. ;)

This morning the Circle is crowded with about 8 construction vehicles. More work of some sort is being done to the cottage across the Circle from us.

The Call a Head portable potty truck also visited earlier.

Quiet Saturday morning so far however a roofing company truck is parked across the Circle at the cottage under renovation.

Expecting bang bang banging to begin at any moment. :(

Sunday late afternoon mowers are out in force getting their yard work done before heading home. :(

At least this morning was quiet.
