That letter from Obama to djt on inauguration day, I expect that got hand shredded and sent down the drain. Staff was not yet trained to pick the wastebins and recover the puzzle pieces.

Joyce Vance includes a lot of info about dates in this case. We know that the judge threw out the May trial date, saying that other matters had to be ruled on. That schedule is listed in this article.

Allowing amicus briefs to be submitted before a district court is rare. Allowing an amicus to present oral argument before any court is extraordinary. It very rarely happens before an appellate court. I want to say that I've never heard of its being done before a district court, but I've got a faint vague memory that I've read about its happening in on-beyond-extraordinary circumstances when one party's counsel is hopelessly incompetent for the issue presented and the court isn't in a position to require the party to obtain different counsel.Anna Bower
@AnnaBower
Judge Cannon will allow several non-parties to participate in oral argument during a hearing set to take place later this month on Trump’s motion to dismiss the classified documents case based on “the unlawful appointment of Special Counsel Jack Smith.”
Allowing three amicus representatives to present argument and giving each 30 minutes is in the category of "We're characters in a Bugs Bunny cartoon and we can do anything that the art director can think up."

Honestly at this point Smith should just drop the case. Sure it's the strongest of criminal cases against Zee Orange Furher, but it's clear Cannon is intent on putting her thumb on the scale in the defense's favor. Time to stop wasting taxpayer money.

To plat Devil's Advocate here...Smith is never gonna get Cannon removed, that is the consensus I get from our Fogboz lawyer gallery. So I dare ask, with her presiding over this case do you see a conviction in the pipeline? Because I don't. As I said, this is indeed the strongest of the felony cases against Zee Orange Furher, but with Cannon so intent on pushing the scale of justice in his favor, what is the worth of the outcome? He gets acquitted, but yet there is some sort of moral victory?
I love my Fogbowzers like a family [indeed some of you know things about me even my parents don't know], however this one I see as a hill that is not worth dying on.
Cannon is determined to get Zee Orange Furher off, the bias is clear, why waste anymore time on it?

Too also: If the judge dismisses due to this theory, it is appealable. So the case lives on (in the appellate court).
Of course, it is debatable whether the defendant will live on. (NADT.)

After 1,000 complaints in one week, court no longer accepting ‘orchestrated’ complaints about judge in Trump’s Florida case
Tierney Sneed and Hannah Rabinowitz
Updated Tue, June 4, 2024 at 1:22 PM GMT+2·1 min read
A federal appeals court will no longer accept complaints about Aileen Cannon, the judge presiding over the federal criminal case against Donald Trump in Florida, that appear to be part of an “orchestrated campaign.”
The May 22 opinion from the 11th Circuit Judicial Council, which oversees lower courts in Florida, said that since May 16, 2024, the clerk has received more than 1,000 complaints “that raise allegations that are similar to the allegations raised in previous complaints.” The council ordered the court clerk to stop accepting similar complaints.
It’s not clear what exactly started the onslaught of complaints after May 16. Last month, Cannon indefinitely postponed the start of the trial in the Trump case, where he has been accused of mishandling classified documents.
Several complaints against Cannon “question the correctness of her rulings or her delays in issuing rulings” in the classified documents case, the judicial council’s opinion said. Those complaints included allegations “unsupported by any evidence” that Cannon has an “improper motive in delaying the case,” according to the opinion.

In general, the judicial councils of the courts of appeals exist to provide a forum for parties to complain about misbehavior on the part of judges hearing their cases, misbehavior of a sort that cannot be addressed in the usual course through appellate review. The councils would probably also entertain certain kinds of complaints of misbehavior by a judge in her personal capacity that reflected poorly on the court, but that doesn't apply here. And of course, the only way to remove a federal judge for misconduct is by impeachment.
The clowns who urged members of the public to file complaints about Judge Cannon were accomplishing nothing, and in fact it was harmful. Orchestrated campaigns of criticism against a judge are likely to cause her colleagues to circle the wagons in her defense.
