Okay. Three, possibly four, for dinner. I make resies at Higgins for 6ish, and we can figure out a game plan on where to meet and greet before heading over. The Park Blocks are pretty close.

I'll work on a res at Higgins for 6pm Sat Apr 20 in a bit. Here is a map of the area. Let's meet in the red circle around 5pm, form a coven, make some sacrifices, and then head to dinner. We should all be a bit peckish by then I think. I'll bring tee shirts.

My weather apps all say light rain and a little chilly which for this Portland means wear a weather jacket, and a hat, and shoes that can endure a puddle. You want layers that you can button up or peel off as needed.

The rain might knock the pollen count down if that matters to anyone, but take your Benedryl et al if it does matter. The cherry blossoms are in bloom everywhere. Pink snow will abound! I love it. I can't remember if there are mock cherries on Park Ave anymore or not. I hope so.

I have four of these tees left - three XL and one 3XL. I'll bring them all. And some cheese curd. I have a service call to Tillamook tomorrow.

Landed in Portlandia, chasing the sunset from around the Midwest. The sun won. The pilots must have had a spectacular view.

Where are the cherry blossoms? Specific instructions for the cab driver, please. Look forward to meeting folks!

Hi and welcome to Portland(ia) W4.

I think you're referring to specific instructions on our meeting place Saturday. I propose we meet 5pm in the park at SW Park and Jefferson. It's right in front of the art museum, and a half block from our 6pm dinner reservation.

No, I’m looking for cherry blossoms in big numbers if the aren’t gone yet. Like waterfront park?

... just getting back from Tillamook ...

I'll find out. They used to line Park avenue. But there may well be some at Waterfront. The Waterfront is a good place to visit in its own right. Should be relatively quiet. The next scheduled event is Bridges to Brews on Sunday Apr 21. Starts at 7am. People run all the bridges and then head to the brew pubs. Or something like that. It involves running, and homey don't do running.

Mmmm. Love Tillamook. Had cheese sandwiches there for lunch one day. I buy their cheese and ice cream here.

I miss Tillamook so much. I can get the cheese at Wally World. Tillamook ice cream where I am? Not so much available here.

Having a blast. Yesterday was Art, today is Gardens. Tomorrow is yet to be, but will be meeting strangers-not-strangers.

Also, this place is warmer than I thought. 71° today, but everyone is still in jackets, fleece, and sweaters. Plus have I mentioned chatty? We aren’t in New England anymore. :oldlady:

If you are a garden enthusiast, Crystal Springs Rhododendron Gardens in Southeast Portland has a magnificent collection. It may be a bit early in the season, but it is quite impressive.

I’m back next weekend to catch the closing night of the opera (opening night was FABULOUS!!), and I think I’ll hit the rhodies then. The Japanese garden was glorious. Saturday I’ll do the Chinese garden as my knees decided to allow only one for the day.

Nice! You found Washington Park. It was a beautiful clear day yesterday. Great temp. Good view of the mountains. I'm glad you got some of that time. Weather report all week said rain was possibly starting Friday. A low pressure system is blowing in from Alaska. Now it says 60% chance of rain this afternoon ... just as we're meeting outside of course. :)

I'll be wearing my formal fleece, spandex, and possibly flannel (aka hipster urban camo) tonight. So, I'll be indistinguishable from the crowd.
