In federal court, you may appeal without posting a bond.

A court may direct a costs bond, that is, funds to cover the appellee's costs to defend an appeal.

But you must post a bond to stay enforcement of the judgment.

I paraphrase: Al Habba was a disaster in the courtroom with all her blunders (gives the example of the the poster board she wanted to use in closing, but couldn't, because they hadn't admitted it into evidence), and she (Rubin) has to wonder how long she's going to last as TFG's lawyer.

He didn't write that. That has decent sentence structure, proper capitalization, very few "!", does not refer to himself in the third person, sounds like an actual human, etc etc.

He put up the $5 mill following Carroll 2 in order to appeal. There was some reporting about how he was paying more than he had to due to lost interest or penalty for withdrawal or some such.

Not immediately; there's a relatively brief automatic stay.

A president obviously has the power to pardon someone accused or convicted of a federal crime. I think we all assume that, if he is elected in November, the first document he signs as president will be a self-pardon for his federal crimes.

Does a president have any similar power in a federal civil matter? IOW, as it is probably unlikely that he will be writing a check to Ms. Carroll before Jan 20, can he do anything to mitigate the judgement? I'm not referring to a normal appeal.

-ish. Civil litigation against the sitting president usually is stayed during the presidency, to deter those who would lawfare the president.

Reality Check, thanks again for the great work posting all those Xits from @InnerCityPress, I read them all with great interest and I felt like I had a good clue about what was going on in the courtroom. You gave us a ton of useful information.

And I saw Flatpoint predict another case, and I agree. Fully agree. Bring it. But for me, the best part of today's eighty three point three million dollar verdict is that it doesn't get the quadfectee out of Judge Engoron's case about the fraud, and it doesn't get him out of a single one of the 91 felonies for which he still might go to prison.

No, this is just eighty three point three million dollars to teach him to be a loudmouth lying asshole who tells a dozen lies before breakfast, just to get warmed up for the day.

Much more important than the 83 million dollar verdict is the recognition from a member of the U.S. judiciary that Trump and his supporters remain a violent threat to ordinary Americans.

If she is a Narcisist (I have no idea), she is certainly not having as many threats to her self esteem as he is. He is exhausting himself attacking multiple threats to him at the moment to little effect, whereas she only has one, and she is winning constantly on that.
