I understand that "recall" in this context means an over-the-air software update.

The investigation found that in certain circumstances with Autosteer, the driver “does not maintain responsibility for vehicle operation and is unprepared to intervene as necessary or fails to recognize when Autosteer is canceled or not engaged, there may be an increased risk of a crash.”

The safety report said that Tesla didn’t agree with the agency’s engineering analysis of the Autosteer issue, but on Dec. 5, agreed to voluntarily administer a recall and remedy: a free over-the-air software update to impacted vehicles.

The update will “incorporate additional controls and alerts" to "further encourage the driver to adhere to their continuous driving responsibility whenever Autosteer is engaged,” the safety report said.

Owners of impacted vehicles will be alerted via mail.

The report noted that as of Dec. 8, Tesla has identified nine warranty claims received between July 13, 2021, and Sept. 17, 2023, that “may be related” to the Autosteer issue.

I'd like to know what part he and his precious mommy played in protesting against, or possibly supporting, the system of apartheid that was in place in South Africa for the first 23 years of his life. SpaceX is furious at the Federal Communications Commission after the agency refused to reinstate an $886 million broadband grant that was tentatively awarded to Starlink during the previous administration.

The FCC announced yesterday that it rejected SpaceX's appeal. "The FCC followed a careful legal, technical and policy review to determine that this applicant had failed to meet its burden to be entitled to nearly $900 million in universal service funds for almost a decade," FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel said.

In December 2020, shortly before the departure of then-FCC Chairman Ajit Pai, Starlink was tentatively awarded $885.51 million in broadband funding from the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF). But the satellite provider still needed FCC approval of a long-form application to receive the money, which is meant to subsidize deployment in areas with little or no high-speed broadband access.

The Rosenworcel FCC rejected the long-form application in August 2022, and SpaceX appealed the decision the next month. The FCC also rejected the long-form application of LTD Broadband, a fixed wireless provider that was originally slated to get $1.3 billion. LTD recently renamed itself "GigFire."

The Starlink and LTD rejections were the two biggest changes to a $9.2 billion round of grants that, in the Rosenworcel FCC's words, fueled "complaints that the program was poised to fund broadband to parking lots and well-served urban areas." The FCC denied LTD's appeal last week and proposed a fine of $21.7 million for defaulting on grant bids.

financial and technical deficiencies the Bureau had identified in Starlink’s application. Starlink submitted
to the Bureau a response attempting to address these identified issues in January 2022, and submitted
additional information in February 2022. The Bureau spoke with Starlink about continuing concerns with
Starlink’s technical and financial deficiencies in March 2022 and April 2022. In these calls, the Bureau
explained the deficiencies to Starlink and answered Starlink’s questions about program requirements.
Starlink followed up with written responses in June 2022 and July 2022. Finally, on June 3, 2022, the
Bureau sent a formal letter to Starlink (June 3rd Letter) that described the Starlink application’s
deficiencies and provided Starlink a final opportunity to demonstrate its qualifications for support.32
Among other things, the Bureau asked Starlink to explain why its network performance was below the
required minimum speeds of 100/20 Mbps {[ ]}.

due by July 5, 2022. On July 1, 2022, Starlink notified the Bureau that it had submitted revised financial
and technical documents to explain its network deployment plans in the states covered by its winning bids
in response to the June 3rd Letter.34

concluded that Starlink had not shown that it was reasonably capable of fulfilling RDOF’s requirements
to deploy a network of the scope, scale, and size required to serve the 642,925 model locations in 35
states for which it was the winning bidder. On August 10, 2022 the Bureau sent Starlink a letter
informing Starlink of its conclusions.35

Judge threatens to force Musk testimony in SEC probe

A federal judge warned Elon Musk that he will be forced to testify in a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) investigation if he does not voluntarily agree to answer questions from the agency about his 2022 purchase of the platform then known as Twitter.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Laurel Beeler reportedly dismissed Musk’s argument that the SEC lacks the authority to issue an administrative subpoena and told the two sides to set a time for the billionaire’s deposition, according to Reuters.

If Musk and the SEC fail to agree on a time, Beeler said she would issue an order setting the deposition for February in San Francisco.

“You’ve got one more four-hour deposition, one more day of depositions to survive, and it’s over,” the judge said to Musk’s attorneys Thursday, according to Reuters. “It seems unlikely there’s going to be any more hassle.”

Musk previously sat on two other occasions for questions from the SEC about his purchase of Twitter, which he has since renamed X.

The billionaire owner of SpaceX and Tesla was set to sit for a third deposition in September but notified the SEC just days before that he would not appear, the agency said in its initial filing in October.

The SEC began investigating Musk in April 2022, when he first offered to buy Twitter for $43 billion. Just days earlier, a filing with the agency revealed that Musk had bought a 9.2 percent stake in the company, becoming its largest shareholder.

Family friend has a loaded model X, they took it up north the other weekend to cut down a Christmas tree. About 120 miles each way. Between the cold and the drag from the tree on the roof, they had to stop and recharge FOUR TIMES on their trek.
