Big news. I happened to find Rachel Alexander's story about Bryan Blehm this morning and sort of broke the news. A lot have picked up on it, including reporters who started following me like YvonneWingettSanchez 🏜 @yvonnewingett Democracy reporter in Arizona for @WashingtonPost.

FOGBOW WIN!

Luke Johnson 🇺🇸 @Orly_licious

🚨 BREAKING NEWS: "State Bar of Arizona Finds Probable Cause in Investigation of Kari Lake’s Attorney Bryan Blehm, He Expects to Be Disbarred". Bar complaints against Kurt Olsen as well.

Bryan Blehm announced on X, “They are going to take my bar license.” Rachel Alexander, @rach_ic, who is herself a suspended attorney, has the inside story: "The State Bar of Arizona is actively pressing charges against Kari Lake’s lawyer, Bryan Blehm, rather than just looking into complaints lodged by others."

Bryan Blehm's Response to AZ Bar: Blehm seems to indicate there are bar complaints against Kurt Olsen as well: "First, with respect to the substantive charges asserted in File No. 23-1164, I hereby incorporate by reference the response of my co-counsel, Kurt Olsen, in File No. 32-1164, because the bar complaints against me and Mr. Olsen are based on the same court case and facts." (It’s always a good practice to put yourself last when you’re part of a compound subject or object. For formal writing, Blehm might want to consider “bar complaints against Mr. Olsen and me”).

"The Arizona Bar has informed Blehm that it has already established probable cause to proceed with its case against him, indicating a high likelihood of disbarment. Blehm is accused of breaching five ethical rules, often employed as general rules to disbar lawyers."

I communicated to Bryan: “#LukeCrew reported on John #EastmanTrial. Will your disbarment hearings be broadcast? We’re prepared to report on the trial. Do you have any idea when they might take place?” #LukeCrew, are you onboard for the #BlehmDisbarment Trial? :P It’s likely to occur after Jeff Clark’s case, but Blehm’s trial will delve into topics we’re all well-versed in.

In addition to his sanctioned behavior in Kari Lake's bogus election challenges (May 4, 2023: "Arizona high court fines Kari Lake lawyers for "unequivocally false" claim") https://axios.com/2023/05/04/kari-lake- ... 20election, Bryan Blehm:

"Represented the Cochise County Supervisors in various litigation matters. A couple of weeks ago, Attorney General Kris Mayes initiated criminal proceedings against two of the supervisors." and

"Before that, Blehm represented the Cyber Ninjas, the third party contracted by the Arizona Senate to review the 2020 election."

Unsurprisingly, Blehm and Olsen have persistently pursued unfounded election conspiracy theories, faced sanctions, and lost their cases related to election denial. They have also allegedly been involved in deceptive money-making schemes. Olsen recently gave testimony in John Eastman’s California Bar Disbarment Trial, and supported Mike Lindell’s “WMD” at Trump’s Bedminster property. Looking forward to hearing more from Bryan and Kurt in the near future.

"k" is next to "l" on a standard keyboard - this is easily explained as a typo. Badoptics nonetheless.

Also, if a spellcatcher didn't check it, it likely means the word was added to your local dictionary. Just sayin'.

Is "Badoptics" in my local dictionary? Or did the spellchecker not catch it?

Or did I just hit send without checking spellcheck?

Or ignored it. But, yes, point taken -- however, my usual take on Kari Lake includes the idea that she's so artificial that she wouldn't write a birthday card to her own kids without a spellchecker, so I was basing the thought on that presumption.

I am disturbed to discover just now that word is NOT flagged by spellcheck on any of the devices or apps that either Dr. Vicklund or myself own (I was careful to change it to "like" after each test just to be safe).

These things are impossible to supervise. I belonged to a forum run by a newspaper once, and you couldn't write the first name of then-Vice President Cheney or the title of that book about the white whale. But you could write every ethnic slur, US and UK included, and they just relied on people not to call anybody a wog or sumpin'. With more or less success.

I freak out about the cuss words that compare people to femalian parts, like the t-word and the c-word, as we saw this week. Other than that, I just rely on good people to make good decisions. I used to prohibit the word fag/faggot, but a gay member complained that I was limiting their freedom of expression, which I try to avoid.
But you are right that her spellchecker should have alerted her that she misspelled the word, but if she previously used the word in some other context the spellchecker would miss it. :fingerwag:

I doubt that it was that unusual for a boy to be named Gaylord in the early 1900's. My mom's oldest brother was Uncle Gay.

My husband used to tell me stories of the townsfolk he grew up with. In one story the man's first name was Adolf. I doubt that was unusual pre-WWII.

Some names will never come back into fashion.

Industrial bulk bins are still called gaylords. I think the original company is no longer around, but the term is still used extensively. Like Aspirin became aspirin
