I'm sure that Trump believes that the primaries and the convention (at least the voting part) are a waste of time. He wants the party to simply declare him the candidate. No need for primary elections or a vote at the convention. Everybody knows he will win bigly, so why bother? The convention should be reduced to his acceptance speech and prolonged applause and adulation. Maybe a few speeches singing his praises.

He demanded they don't have a Primary and just give him the nom in 2012. When they didn't he "withdrew his candidacy" i.e. he flounced off in May 2011.

He hated the fact that he didn't get over 50% of the vote during the Primaries in 2016, until the last couple of Primaries. Due to the Republican Primary rules he still got 100% of the Delegates as he still got the majority proportion.

But really he just wants the adulation and hates being critisised.

IIRC, in Ohio, at least, there was no Republican primary in 2020. The RNC requested that it be cancelled, since the Mango Mussilini was the incumbent and he didn't want any other candidates muddying the waters.

Donald Trump called for shooting store robbers on Friday in a bleak speech to California Republicans –and warned “this country will die!” if Joe Biden remained president.

During the address to GOP members, Trump also railed that wealthy Beverly Hills residents smell because of water denials, and repeated election fraud lies, according to the Associated Press.

“We will immediately stop all of the pillaging and theft. Very simply: If you rob a store, you can fully expect to be shot as you are leaving that store,” Trump said, spurring applause. “Shot!”

The rhetoric is in keeping with Trump’s tough-on-crime mantra but signified a ramped up emphasis on punishment. Trump has previously pitched shooting migrants to keep them from entering the US.

The former defense secretary Mark Esper has said that Trump asked about shooting George Floyd protesters. He also floated imposing the death penalty on convicted drug dealers, cop-killers and human traffickers, AP said.

Former President Trump, in a new campaign ad, took a swipe at former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton — alluding that his 2016 presidential rival wanted to brainwash voters into supporting President Biden.

The advertisement, posted to his Truth Social account, shows voters lining up to be brainwashed and blindfolded with clips of Clinton praising the work Biden has done.

The clip took a snippet of Clinton’s recent interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour where the former first lady called for a “formal deprogramming” of MAGA — or “Make America Great Again” — “cult members.”

“Maybe there needs to be a formal deprogramming of the cult members,” Clinton said in the interview earlier this month.

“And sadly, so many of those extremists, those MAGA extremists, take their marching orders from Donald Trump, who has no credibility left by any measure,” Clinton added. “He’s only in it for himself.”

It's not an overlook if you believe -- or profess to believe -- in the conspiracy theory that it's all with Biden DoJ coordination.

Yes. But DeSatnis's goal was to ruin it, not to improve it.

I've learned in recent years that it's much easier to destroy than to build. Cf. Boehner's quote about Gym Jordan doing nothing but tearing things apart.

This appears to be an under-researched aspect of human society.
