Wow. I don't know if I would want to be in the front row of that session. It would be deafening.

Hubby loves this song! It was the perfect gift for his birthday yesterday.

Never heard of that before. Interesting.

This song "Waiting Around to Die" played during the closing credits of a teevee show I watched this week. It immediately captured me, and I had to find out who it was - Townes Van Zandt. Probably the best country singer / song writer I never heard of. And I discovered I had been listening to him my whole life, but never knew it. Lots of my favorite artists have covered his work, and taken them top of the charts.
Compare and contrast Pancho and Lefty the original with others
The song bird Emmy Lou Harris (my personal favorite version)
Willie and Merle - over produced for my tastes - it lost something - but he sang it hundreds of times at concerts performing with many others besides Merle. Willie made the song famous.
Gillian Welch takes it back to Van Zandt's roots.

They're still touring BTW, except that Leland's wife Maureen just had back surgery and he's at home with her at the moment:

I thought I posted something about the Pub Choir a while back. May I did, and maybe I just hallucinated it.
I tried to sign up for one when they did it in Melbourne, but missed out. They sell out virtually instantaneously.
They have toured the US a couple of years ago, BC. I dunno if they have licensed the concept to others, I'm sure they could.

Got my copy of DSOTM Redux the other day and listened to the whole CD today.
It has gotten mixed reviews, mostly because it isn't the original, some because they no longer think Waters is playing with a full deck. But I like it.
It is NOT the DSOTM of my youth, but I like it.
EDITED TO CORRECT! I left out the word 'NOT' in a sentence, which of course reversed the intent of the sentence. Sorry about that.

There's been a lot of super groups form and fall in my day.

Batiste is awesome. I'd seen that interview a couple years ago and while I miss him leading the band on Colbert, he needed to go fly.

Danse Macabre the tone poem by Camille Saint-Saëns (and is part of the artistic genre, Danse Macabre {Danse of Death} is wonderful with an orchestra but is also a fun piece with organ (you need to click on the Play on Youtube link as it has been restricted).
Here is the orchestral version. For fun, I grabbed one that follows the actual conductor score for those who like to follow along with the music (one of my hobbies back when I was in middle/high school - I was weird). The layout for the score for when the entire score is shown, but this is a reduction so drops parts on pages where a part does not have any music (i.e. rests):
1. Woodwinds on top - highest on top then lowest on the bottom (Hautbois is oboe).
2. French Horns next - called Cors in the score. Like always they are considered both woodwind and brass.
3. Brass - highest to lowest
4. Percussion and harp
5. Strings - the violin solo is top followed by the rest, highest to lowest. Alto is the viola.
Zeros by the solo openings mean open strings (no fingering on the chord).
Some of the instruments have different key signatures as they are transposed instruments (Clarinet, Trumpet, French Horns).

In high school, I loved reading plays. It was quite helpful when I began creating and producing educational documentaries.

Looking at his shining shoes, I am reminded that I really should probably replace my old organ shoes. They won't by shining ones because I'm lousy at keeping ones like that looking nice but at least they won't look scruffy like my current ones.

That was so bad I actually googled to make sure it was real and not some kind of AI or other sound-"alike" technique. Yikes, it's real! It's just mesmerisingly awful.
Though, if you're a punk fan, you'll likely love it.

It's the twenty year anniversary of The Shins - The Past and Pending. Part Beach Boys, part Simon and Garfunkle, they harmonize well on lyrics that reach deep into your soul. Enjoy.
