Also, it's illuminating that a Republican rep admits that Gaetz showed him revenge porn videos, and yet the entire Caucus did sod all about it.

It was only when he accidentally caused their Speaker to get kicked out of the Chair that they actually started moving to get rid of the unlikable fuck.

This reminds me of what happened with Ken Paxton. Both parts of the Texas Republican Party were willing to ignore his obvious criminality. Until he made a statement about the Republican leader of the Texas house when he appeared to be drunk as a skunk at work. The old timey Republicans decided that was a bridge too far and he had to go. The MAGAs outnumbered the old timey, so he was acquitted and held up as a victim after his trial.

During an online fundraiser, Matt Gaetz denounced the Biden impeachment effort as unserious

WASHINGTON — Days before Rep. Matt Gaetz led an effort to oust Kevin McCarthy as House speaker, Gaetz and Rep. Matt Rosendale, a fellow Freedom Caucus member, denounced as a political stunt Republicans’ high-stakes effort to impeach President Joe Biden, according to a video obtained by NBC News.

At an invitation-only fundraiser held over Zoom last week, Gaetz, R-Fla., and Rosendale, who is said to be plotting another Senate run next year, heaped skepticism on the probe.

“I don’t believe that we are endeavoring upon a legitimate impeachment of Joe Biden,” Gaetz told Steve Bannon, a podcaster and onetime political adviser to former President Donald Trump, who was moderating the discussion.

“They’re trying to engage in a, like, ‘forever war’ of impeachment,” Gaetz said. “And like many of our forever wars, it will drag on forever and end in a bloody draw.”

As they fielded questions from high-dollar conservative donors, Gaetz and Rosendale were just days away from moving to end McCarthy’s speakership — and tipping the Republican caucus into its own protracted battle over who will lead the conference.

The Matt Gaetz-Kevin McCarthy feud that caused chaos in congress — and how it could now help Putin
I'm probably opening a can of worms here, but here goes. Ousting McCarthy is, IMO, the death knell for Ukraine. I hated the very guts, the very face, the very thought, of Kevin McCarthy. However, I also believe that ousting means that SOMEONE has to take his place. And who is the single person that the extremist Republicans and the ultra ultra ultra ultra extremist MAGAts will vote for? Someone who WANTS to make sure Ukraine doesn't fall to Russia? Somehow I find that impossible to believe.

So now Democrats have put themselves most likely into a position to just fuck Ukraine and keep voting for Hakeem Jeffries for speaker and keep showing the world that Democrats are not in disarray. Or try to make a coalition with the less extreme Republicans to put a Republican who would be willing to continue supporting Ukraine and now we have a freaking war in the Democrat House and prove why everyone always says Democrats are in disarray. There is no way that any Republican is going to join with Democrats to vote for Hakeem Jeffries. How many would it even take? Are there that many that are willing to retire from Congress and go back to working some job where they don't have all that power? I fear not.

I could have plugged my nose for the next year and half and put up with that bag of green snot. Yes, he's a turd. But in a whole party of nothing but turds, the stench from that dried out, overwrought, powerless turd would have been better than the freaking diarrhea that is probably about to be unleashed.

I sure as hell hope I am completely wrong and some miracle happens that Republicans will put in someone halfway reasonable. The problem is, I can't even figure out anyone that WOULD be possible reasonable AND get the votes of enough Republicans.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is extraordinarily unpopular in his home state according to a new poll conducted by Florida Atlantic University that found that just 20.5% of voters approve and a whopping 56.9% of voters disapprove of Gaetz’s performance in Congress.

The survey of 946 adults has a margin of error of 3.2% and was conducted between October 27 and November 11. Even more disappointingly for Gaetz, he performs poorly with Republicans as well as Democrats and independents. Nearly as many members of his own party disapprove of Gaetz (36.3%) as approve (36.6%) of him, while independents disapprove by a margin of 53.8$-21.1%.

FIFY: FL-1 (aka South Alabama) is R+19. Like Greene, Gaetz will only be booted if his party makes it happen.

Matt Gaetz Issues Warning To House Republicans

https://www.newsweek.com/matt-gaetz-iss ... ns-1849062
Talking on a December 3 episode of The Charlie Kirk Show podcast, the Florida representative hit out at what he viewed as House Republicans' "self-mutilation" over the expulsion of now former New York Rep. George Santos.

Santos was expelled from the House in a historic 311-114 vote on Friday that cleared the two-thirds threshold to pass.

:snippity:

Gaetz claimed the vote to expel Santos, who has protested his innocence, left House Republicans vulnerable and speculated how possible departures in the future could end their majority.

"Let's do the math here, Charlie. We have a four-vote majority, right? Now we've kicked out George Santos we have a three-vote majority," he told host Charlie Kirk.

"Congressman Bill Johnson of Ohio has taken a college university presidency, that could knock us down to two and I don't think [former House Speaker] Kevin McCarthy is sticking around long. Every image of his office shows he's packing things up in boxes, so we could be down to a one-seat majority.

"We've got a bunch of these octogenarians in our conference. If God forbid any of them were to cross the rainbow bridge, we would be in a situation where we could literally lose the majority because we were so eager to throw George Santos out before being convicted.

In Norse mythology, Bifröst, also called Bilröst, is a burning rainbow bridge that reaches between Midgard and Asgard, the realm of the gods.

It was new to me. Crossing the river Styx - yes; Rainbow bridge - no.

Learning something new everyday - check. TY. And I learned it indirectly from Matt Butthead (dammit). I'm not sending a thank you card to him.

It's okay if a Republican inadvertently blurts the truth once in a while, as long as it isn't intentional, and as long as it doesn't happen too often.

But if a Republican deliberately tells the truth about any subject whatsoever, they could get sick and die.

That, or burst into flames, I'm still debating. But something real bad.
