Hubs is still up and down but he's stable now that he's back on oxygen so I slipped out to make my debut at the local farmer's market where The Calendar Girls raised a respectable amount of money for Southeast Guide Dogs. These women have been my rock this summer. Not an ego in the bunch.
Southeast Guide Dogs are available to anyone in need but the money we raise goes specifically to visually impaired veterans. We're working on dog #61. One seeing eye dog costs $60K. If anyone is interested in learning more, DM me.

Hubs has been back in the hospital for the past week. He started having shortness of breath about 1-1/2 weeks ago and put himself back on oxygen at 2 liters, but then the temperature started rising. When it reached the requisite threshold, off we went to the ER thinking/hoping we'd gotten there ahead of it. Sadly, he's gone downhill all week. He's now up to 6 liters O2 and is currently undergoing his second transfusion. He's been tested every day but nothing definitive shows in the lab work or on the diagnostic tests. It apparently isn't a recurrence of typhlitis, which is good. But it is some kind of pneumonia, which is bad. But no evidence of blood clots, which is also good.
In addition to AML, he has a long history of heart disease and emphysema (he was a heavy smoker back in the day) so all those risk factors combined are kicking his ass.
He's wearing down, I can see it in his eyes and I feel so bad for him. When the Moffitt doc said it was a matter of time before the chemo turned on him, I didn't think it would be this soon, and I'm not sure that's what it is. Nobody is, but this is the second time in a row he's been hospitalized two weeks following completion of treatment so it's a pattern.
He's scheduled for a Bone Marrow Transplant Team visit two weeks from Monday in Tampa. Pretty sure they aren't going to approve him. Not even sure he'll be able to make the trip.
