My praise after the server reboot was premature. It feels like I am accessing the Fogbow via a 2400 baud dial up connection. :(

Indeed. And I'm old enough to remember we thought that was fast.

Me too. I recall before I had real Internet I was dialing into local BBS's at 1200 baud.

My first modem at work was 300 baud. We thought that was great. ;)

Reporting the same slowness here in Las Vegas. And thanks for the modem memories folks. I'm trying to remember the name of the shareware software I used. Procomm maybe? It was shareware before it went commercial. Good times with text based internet.

:( back to delivery times rather than response time measurements.

My gut feelings is that it has to do with some load factor. When the Old Continent was awakening while the US went to sleep I had near normal access.

My speculation at this time is that some configuration issue between the application server and the database server is the culprit. Like number of concurrent threads / requests between them.

Foggy - I know you're hurting a lot right now and may not be able to get to fixing things right away. I don't want you to feel like I'm trying to push you, just letting you know I'm still slow here on Firefox. Fix it when you get the chance, but take care of yourself FIRST, ok?

I use the same hosting service (Inmotion Hosting) that hosts the Fogbow and I have not seen any issue with my email or loading my now defunct weather page. The issue does not seem to be associated with any upgrade to the phpBB software. I seem to recall Foggy said he was updating something this week but I cannot find it in the announcements. Foggy used to post updates on his Facebook account but I don't think he is active there any longer.

Good luck to Foggy on finding the issue. It is not something he needed on his plate right now.

Same here. Sometimes when I post, it takes; sometimes it doesn't.

Same here. Get a few minutes of near normal then it becomes unresponsive for a while.

It is likely not all of the hosting services but just one or a few different servers. For a DDOS, somebody could be targeting a separate website but one that is close enough in some fashion to Foggy's to impact the performance on TFB. I remember there was a previous issue being caused by a different website but still impacted some machines. The same could be an issue if one of the load-balancing servers is down or some network device is causing a traffic bottleneck for some of the servers, though not all.

Or they deployed some sever software without stress testing it and it has become FAFO. Getting an IT area to admit that is like pulling teeth.

My Fogbow is also extremely slow and often times out. I am on a bunch of other websites, video, etc, and nothing else is slow. Something is going on with the Fogbow site. Just reporting, no worries and no rush, I know Foggy is busy.

Yeah, near unusable, but so is Foggy right now, I'd imagine. I have no doubt that once Foggy manages to reboot hisself, he'll figger this out.

In the meantime, patience, and healing thoughts for the Rooster.
