Special counsel Jack Smith recently asked Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp for information about efforts by President Donald Trump and his allies to overturn the election results in Georgia in 2020, the governor’s spokesman confirmed Friday afternoon.

“Our office has been contacted by Jack Smith’s office, but we will decline to comment further at this time,” said Andrew Isenhour, the spokesman for Kemp (R).

Trump received a target letter last week from Smith’s office, saying he was facing potential criminal charges in the investigation of efforts to block Joe Biden’s 2020 victory.

Kemp’s office has not been known to have prior contact with Smith as part of that investigation. A spokesman for Smith declined to comment.

Smith’s probe of the events leading up to the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol and efforts to overturn the election results is broad, The Washington Post has reported. Prosecutors are looking at attempts to substitute illegitimate electors supporting Trump in states won by Biden, as well as whether Trump and his allies knew such efforts were fraudulent, and who profited off them.

A Donald Trump ally has turned over thousands of documents to special counsel Jack Smith related to efforts to find supposed voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election – including materials that haven’t been previously disclosed to investigators looking into events surrounding January 6, 2021.

Former New York Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik was part of the team led by Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani trying to uncover fraud that would swing the election in favor of Trump.

For months, Kerik had tried to shield some of the documents from investigators, citing privilege.

But in recent weeks, Kerik gave the documents to the Trump’s 2024 campaign to review. After that review, the campaign declined to assert privilege, according to Kerik’s lawyer, Tim Parlatore, who turned over the documents to Smith’s office on Sunday.

“I have shared all of these documents, approximately 600MB, mostly pdfs, with the Special Counsel and look forward to sitting down with them in about 2 weeks to discuss.” Parlatore said.

Kerik is scheduled to sit down for an interview with the special counsel’s office next month, CNN has learned.

They should have thought of that before they took the client. It's not like there weren't any warnings.

WASHINGTON — Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Wednesday that it seems like Donald Trump's final White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows, might be cooperating with the federal probe into the former president.

Christie was reacting to a brief exchange captured on video Wednesday morning in Washington, D.C., between Meadows and an NBC News reporter, who asked him if he has testified before a federal grand jury.

"I don’t talk about anything J6 related," Meadows said, referring to special counsel Jack Smith’s probe into Trump’s role in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol and efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

When asked if he felt the investigation was appropriate, Meadows then walked into a building.
"Watching that video," Christie said in an interview on MSNBC's "Andrea Mitchell Reports," "that looks to me like somebody who is cooperating with the federal government."

How perfect would it be if he's indicted on the 50th anniversary of Nixon's impeachment. They have until midnight to make that happen.
