By the close of the Industrial Revolution, the American food supply was tainted with frauds, fakes, and legions of new and untested chemicals, dangerously threatening the health of consumers. Based on the book by Deborah Blum, The Poison Squad tells the story of government chemist Dr. Harvey Wiley who, determined to banish these dangerous substances from dinner tables, took on the powerful food manufacturers and their allies. Wiley embarked upon a series of bold and controversial trials on 12 human subjects who would become known as the “Poison Squad.” Following Wiley’s unusual experiments and tireless advocacy, the film charts the path of the forgotten man who laid the groundwork for U.S. consumer protection laws, and ultimately the creation of the FDA.

Been watching a lot of decent Trash Youtube. And of course I gravitate to things with a social message. And talking about the rampant hypocracy and wilful blindness of people to themselves. And how they are ruining peoples lives. Um.

Heh, when I read 'tribute to Tina Turner', I was hoping they'd play "Nutbush City Limits" and break out to do "The Nutbush" - the quintessentially daggy line dance Australians invented to go with the song.
But no, they played "Simply The Best", the 1989 song that Turner rerecorded in 1992 as a duet with Jimmy Barnes for the Australian Rugby League - who still use it as their theme to this day.
ETA: Imediately after I posted the above, my desktop background image, which I have set to randomly display album covers from my record collection put up Ike & Tima Turner "Nutbush City Limits". Spooky!
