Well it was the middle of winter with snow on the ground all over the place. And he emerged from the tarp right in front of a reporter, ready to talk. Honestly, I always assumed it was kinda staged.

It must have been a tiny one, those are designed to keep the rain off an area, usually. My big one is 12' x 24' (4 x 8 meters) and I will put it above a picnic table so we can cook and get meals without getting soaked. My kids know, when we got to a campsite and there was rain in the forecast, I'd put up the tarps before I'd unload the van. I have some smaller ones, but nothing small enough that it would be comfortable sitting in a chair wrapped in the thing.

The whole thing was, which is why the FBI should have holed them up there without reinforcements, food, packages, booze, weed, or meth. They'd have caved and not gotten the national publicity (and the sympathy some of people around here expressed-"that poor family").

Here's another.

IMV, Finicum "crossed the Rubicon" when interviewed under the blue tarp. Afterward, it was put up or shut up.

Bundy has had several similar moments and - up until now - hasn't really had a put up or shut up moment.

The Pettinger interview with shotgun threats might have become Ammon's blue tarp moment, while acolyte Gaylord is doing his best today to remind Ammon and his followers of past words demanding action.

It's a dangerous time for Ammon, his acolytes and those in LE.

I still need to watch the videos (lack of time thing more than anything right now) but I don't know. He could have had a rubcon moment at the police stop where Finicum ran but he gave himself up. I don't know if Ammon realized then he would be able to beat the rap so if he was at his moment, he could of ran, but didn't. I'm not sure.

I sorely wish the Bundy clan would disappear, but the obsessive need for attention will keep Amonnia "fighting", leaving a trail of used, damaged idiot followers in his wake. Kudos to St. Luke's for having the guts to push their case. Shame on the cowardly Wunder.

To be fair, Cliven and Ammon seemed to attract already used, damaged people-Sean and Sandy Anderson, the Vegas killers, David what's his name, Kelli, Mo, too many more to name. None of them started out with him as fully functional people.
