isn’t Costello his attorney? So Costello brought the documents that said Cohen wasn’t reimbursed?
But but there was a payment schedule and they even reimbursed enough for the taxes. Is Costello saying it didn’t happen?

Don't know what's going on here (but, yes, I believe that Costello -- or was -- Cohen's attorney). Not surprising that discrediting Cohen would be their tactic nor that they would wait until the very end to spring the trap. We'll have to wait and see if it turns out to be effective.Phoenix520 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 3:43 pm isn’t Costello his attorney? I know nothing about Bragg but I'm guessing it's not his first rodeo and he knows that a witness like Cohen requires a loooottttt of corroboration. yes/no?
May the bridges I burn light my way.

I remember when this first came out and they posted the check online signed by trump and the audio recording. Wasn't there also campaign expenditures in the official reporting from 2016 that shows payments over various months to Cohen that ended up adding up to the 130k number?Slim Cognito wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 4:02 pm I know nothing about Bragg but I'm guessing it's not his first rodeo and he knows that a witness like Cohen requires a loooottttt of corroboration. yes/no?

Just digging back. Giuliani is mentioned saying that Trump reimbursed Cohen throughout 2017

Oh really? It's always seemed to have more of a liberal bent, but I've never found it to be terribly reliable. It's not so much that they what they report is just made up or something, but its struck me as being overstated or twisted to a point where it's not very useful. At least that's been my experience.

I'm thinking Cohen was being interviewed on MSNBC right after Costello's presser, and IIRC, he indicated that Costello was never his attorney - he'd talked to him, but never hired him, and Cohen had no idea what Costello was talking about when Costello said Cohen had waived privilege. I haven't seen that anywhere else, though, so I may not have heard right.

I could be misremembering, but I thought Cohen initially intended to stay loyal to Trump and did deny that any payments to Daniels had to do with the campaign, or that he was reimbursed. So, Costello may very well have been being partially truthful when he says that Cohen denied what he is now saying happened. And this is something DA's like Bragg probably have experience with - a person who does something on behalf of a criminal and makes statements to protect said criminal and then later decides to come clean. That is what makes Cohen a tricky witness. He was doing Trump's bidding and lying for him at one point and now he is saying something that seems more like the truth, at least to me.

Trump, Escalating Attacks, Raises Specter of Violence if He Is Charged
In an overnight post, the former president warned of “potential death and destruction” if he is indicted. Hours later, the Manhattan district attorney’s office received a threatening letter.

In an overnight social media post, former President Donald J. Trump predicted that “potential death and destruction” may result if, as expected, he was charged by the Manhattan district attorney, Alvin L. Bragg, in connection with hush-money payments to a porn star made during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Hours later, the district attorney’s office discovered a threatening letter addressed to Mr. Bragg containing white powder — later determined not to be dangerous — in its mailroom.
The comments from Mr. Trump, made between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. on his social media site, Truth Social, were a stark escalation in his rhetorical attacks on Mr. Bragg ahead of a likely indictment on charges that Mr. Trump said would be unfounded.
“What kind of person,” Mr. Trump wrote of Mr. Bragg, “can charge another person, in this case a former president of the United States, who got more votes than any sitting president in history, and leading candidate (by far!) for the Republican Party nomination, with a crime, when it is known by all that NO crime has been committed, & also that potential death & destruction in such a false charge could be catastrophic for our country?”
“Why & who would do such a thing? Only a degenerate psychopath that truely hates the USA!” the former president wrote.

A former President threatened “death and destruction” while posting a picture of himself with a bat, next to a government official who is investigating him.
This is not normal, not ok, and there is NO excuse for any Republican to take a pass on commenting.

"The Guardian reports Trump’s advisors are urging him to be arraigned remotely and turn himself in 'quietly,' citing potential security concerns (to which Trump reportedly responded he 'didn't care if someone shot him' because he'd become 'a martyr')."

A proper martyr is one who is fed to lions. The ASPCA would probably prevent any attempt to feed Trump to innocent lions.

As I live and breathe.
He was not arrested. There was no plan to arrest him. It was all a fake out.
The entire American political world spent the entire week running in circles, at his direction, exactly as he planned it.
Good work, Donald.
I'm kinda glad I missed it.
