Well, at the moment, we're not yet sure he's not the Scaramucci of the House. Let's see what the week brings. :)

As round and round we run;
And the truth shall ever come uppermost,
And justice shall be done.

If Brazil DOES choose to attempt to extradite him, some US law enforcement agency will have to arrest him and turn him over to Brazil. This will be complicated by the fact that, per the US Constitution, members of Congress can not be arrested while Congress is in session.

Given the Republicans' proclivity for having one member gavel a session open, so that the other members can go home, while technically keeping Congress in session (to prevent democrat recess appointments) that means he may remain free for two years.

I hope that Brazil does extradite him. Even if he can hide behind the Constitution, the optics of having a sitting member of Congress being the subject of an extradition request will be hilarious.

Speaking of scaramucci. He's on that new show where "celebrities" train in the armed forces.

Brazil won’t extradite him, they’ll just try him in absentia. At least that is what I infer from their statement.

Outgoing NY House rep on George Santos: ‘I’m being succeeded by a con man’

Caroline Vakil
Tue, January 3, 2023 at 4:06 PM GMT+1

Rep. Thomas Suozzi (D), whose New York seat was won by Rep.-elect George Santos (R) in November, said in an op-ed published on Tuesday that he was being “succeeded by a con man” amid rising controversy about Santos’s credentials.

Suozzi, who currently represents New York’s 3rd Congressional District and will be leaving Congress after he forwent reelection to run for governor, wrote in an editorial for The New York Times that Santos “must be removed by Congress or by prosecutors, because there is no indication that he will be moved by conscience to voluntarily resign.”

Since the Speaker Election Madness is preventing him from being sworn in, does he in theory have those protections yet? If this goes on for several days, I mean, that could get interesting.

This would seem like an excellent time to rush through that extradition request.

Why can he vote if he isn't sworn in yet? House rules?

Presumably. I mean, there are presently no Representatives, just Representatives-elect.

George Santos has offered people the opportunity to attend his swearing-in to Congress for as much as $500, according to a widely circulated invitation.

The incoming member of the House of Representatives was due to be sworn in to the 118th Congress on Tuesday but this was delayed after the Republicans, who control the House, failed to elect a speaker after three rounds of voting.

An image of an invite first posted on Twitter by fellow New York congressman Ritchie Torres (D) on December 30 offered the chance to attend Santos' "swearing-in celebration" for $100 as a basic attendee or $500 as a VIP.

The invitation said the package included a "roundtrip bus from NY to DC, luncheon, swearing-in ceremony, & Team Santos Tour of Capitol Grounds." It also erroneously listed the date of his swearing-in as January 3, 2022.
:snippity: :snippity: :snippity:
I laughed so hard at the date. "Find the mistake on George's posts" is going to be the next Where's Waldo.
