Great - that's the one that also works for me, no longer any complaints.

Whoa, I just noticed. You know those little Facebook and Twitter icons in every post at the bottom left, if you click on them you can share a great post on social media? (Narrator: Fogbow is social media )
Well, I just noticed. You can see them if you're using Firefox.
You can see them if you're using Chrome.
You can see them if you're using Opera.
You can see them if you're using Vivaldi (nobody uses Vivaldi except me)
But if you use Microsoft Edge, you can't see them, which means you can't use them, which means Edge is getting flushed from my suite of browsers today.

I can see them on Edge, not that will encourage me to use Edge. Full disclosure, this is probably the newest version of Edge, as I just installed Windows 11.
The only time I use Edge is when I am testing on multiple environments (or user logins) during my day job and don't want to confuse Chrome with conflicting sessions.

Well that's weird, because here's a screencap of my Edge browser.
But whatevs, I'll deal with it.

What's even weirder is that I still don't see the share links, even on the screen caps.

Wrong, because I use Vivaldi when reading Fogbow. Main problem I have is that embedded Tiktok clips do not show. I. usually assume they are not that interesting.Foggy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 8:20 am Whoa, I just noticed. I never use Edge, and if it pops up unwanted, because of some Microsoft thing, it's REALLY hard to close that window down.

I use Edge to read Fogbow and the other phpBB system I read, because embedded twits are invisible on Firefox and I just couldn't figure it out.
Plus I use it for my CD collection account on Discogs (my LP collection is 'on' Firefox, and my wishlist is 'on' Opera).
I never have problems shutting down Edge, that sounds weird to me. I don't LIKE Edge, but it hasn't given me any problems.

Off Topic
We're so off-topic we'll never return!
But here's the thing, I'm working now, and I keep the forum on a different desktop than the work stuff, and in a different browser. I was trying Edge and making it work for me, but the social media icons thing is weird. I use a lot of browsers, so it's a fluid situation.
I use Vivaldi to stay on top of all the other websites I run.
Firefox for learning new tech and woodworking, and banking.
Chrome for the googstuff - Voice, Analytics, Maps, Calendar, etc.
I wasn't using Opera, but it's all fluid ... I'll start using it instead of Edge.
Since we're this off-topic, I have a cousin who worked for Opera - in Norway. He met a Norwegian girl in Germany in the '70s, and moved to her neck of the woods. I think they're in New Jersey now.

In Safari, they're at the right. (I hit them on my phone frequently, alway by accident.)Foggy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 8:20 am Whoa, I just noticed. I see the share icons in Firefox. We had these on the old board did we not?
I cannot see embedded Facebook posts in FIrefox. I have played with the security settings with no success.
I get this message:

I've been to Norway, but I haven't been in any operas. However, I have used Opera in the past.

Oh noes, they released a new version of the software and our phpBB installation is sadly outdated (and hence, vulnerable to bad people). I will update us during regularly scheduled maintenance on Sunday morning at 6 am Eastern.
And yes, it truly is a plot to annoy neonzx.
We have to update styles and extensions and all that nonsense, but I'm pressed for time.

Completed without problems, we are now using phpBB v.3.3.9.
I used the Advanced Update process so as not to annoy neonzx too much. I think the style changes remain intact.
Someday, v.4.0 will come along. I'm not hopeful on that front.
Having an issue? Tell me your sad story below.

Thanks. I appreciate your consideration. I can say that this upgrade went without any notable kinks and and without me knowing I'd think it was the same place I left last evening.
I wish my WinBloz updates were this smooth.

Everything is running like a fine watch for me. It sounds like the Advanced Update process will save you some work.

Yeah, the Advanced Update is vastly improved, I gave it another chance this time and it worked out well, but I admit I was hesitant about it.
In the past, Advanced Update required you to edit files and sometimes delete files, and it was a little hairy. It was like the early days when they had 'mods' or something instead of extensions. You had to follow detailed instructions and open files, change the code, and move to the next.
I'm good at following instructions, but if you miss just one it can wreck the whole forum, so it required total concentration and attention to detail.
This morning wasn't like that. It was quick and I didn't have to edit a single file.
So it's like the Windows system itself. Every new version is designed to be used by more idiots than the last one, because it's easier to use, so the idiots can make it work. Remember putting little jumpers in your computer to change the IRQ so you could get a modem working?
But I was there in the old days, sonny!
We had to walk to school 8 miles in the snow!
