To recap: The judge gave the government three days to respond. Instead of asking more time, the government instead asked to more pages. Almost a "MORE WEIGHT!" flex.

This continues to show that he has no strategy. The way for him to control the narrative is to leak, tweet twuth, and use surrogates. Every time he insists on going to court, the government will take the opportunity to tell (read: dish and spill) its story. We will learn more, and it will be bad for him.

Speaking at Philadelphia’s Independence National Historical Park, the president is expected to highlight his administration’s achievements and argue that the country’s democratic values will be at stake during the midterm elections.

“He will talk about the progress we have made as a nation to protect our democracy, but how our rights and freedoms are still under attack,” the official said. “He will make clear who is fighting for those rights, fighting for those freedoms, and fighting for our democracy.” The official spoke on the condition of anonymity to preview the content of the speech.

I was thinking the feebs might file two versions: one under seal and a redacted version publicly. Get the redaction haggling out of the way.

If a media outlet, etc., wants access to the sealed one, let them make their motions to unseal.

While I expect the response to be measured, I also believe whatever is filed publicly will contain some new details, and they will not be beneficial for him.

I could write a very, very brief brief, and I have explained before, the longer the brief (USUALLY), the less chance that the judge will actually read it instead of handing it to a subordinate and reading only a summary.

But THIS brief will be read by the judge herself, in addition to all her subordinates.

WHY does the DOJ need forty pages, then? Surely she has some basic knowledge of the plaintiff's arguments and what the basic facts are, since she said she's already knowledgeable enough that she is inclined to appoint a special master.

In regards to the idea that the non-brief brief is going to be super duper top secret and sealed from view probably forever, I respectfully call your attention to the following quote from the preceding page of this thread:
