Per sources: search warrant at Mar-a-Lago was related to retention of classified docs. FBI showed up at 9am and left at 6:30pm. They were in plain clothes -- so club staff likely thought they were secret service. That is why it didn't leak earlier.
2/3
FBI did not notify secret service about raid until right before.
3 Trump lawyers showed up during the raid.
Safe referred to in Trump statement was in his office which is the old bridal suite above the ballroom.
It is a hotel style safe. FBI broke it open.
3/3
FBI only took documents specifically related to search warrant -- they knew what they were looking for.
Evidence will initially be taken to South Florida FBI office.
Edit: typo
Re: trump (the former guy)
I listened to that call, lost a bet. I predicted Trump would be pre-recorded but he was live.
He barely mentioned the raid, beyond calling it the terrible events of today.
What I picked up on was during his rant against Lisa Murkowski, he couldn’t remember the name of her challenger. He kept saying to vote for the “great challenger”. It’s Kelly Tshibaka.
Jeff recorded it, ShitGibbon starts about @ 4:20

Re: trump (the former guy)
Okay, revised speculation from out the "Wiener Wire" here at The Well Armed Bunker Complex...
Trump has some documents that Putin told him "get me these documents and I will wipe your debts to Russia away, every penny"
Now this is the good part. The documents involved in that scenario could be nothing. Possibly one of those things that is technically "Classified" but in the way that everyone in DC knows but can't prove. Something that ain't the Nuclear Codes or the exact position of all the Armies and Navies on the day specified. No, it works even better if it's something a guy who wants to brag he has it, and has no idea of the how and why of security. A guy like Trump would would say to himself "I ain't giving away the store here, Maggie Haberman knows this stuff, and surely Putin knows already anyhow. So yeah, for $20 billion you bet your ass I'll send him a copy".
And Putin wins. Because at this point the information is not the super secret Code Name for Stephen Miller's pubic hair stylist, the information is incontrovertible proof that Trump sold state secrets. If Trump ever did come back into power, the blackmail potential is complete and chilling.
And you and me both know that is a completely plausible scenario. Trump would do it without even taking a minute to think about it. Putin would do it because it's a longshot but who doesn't play Powerball when it gets up over half a billion bucks?
I've read to many Tom Clancy novels I know. But everything I ever read in a Clancy novel was technically correct as far as I learned in 9 years in the Army except for one thing. In one novel he gave an elegant description of how to make a thermonuclear device using the Uranium for a recovered atom bomb and tritium available on the open market. He deliberately described something that would not work because to him is was way to possible what he was writing about could happen.
But I do think whatever they are looking for is something pretty important, either for the information itself or the ''sources and methods" behind it that would or could be revealed. I also totally believe Trump would sell state secrets. Because aside from the money he would get off on the whole James Bond thing.

I think it has to involve someone with "V" in his name. (Not Volkonski)

Or...hear me out.
Those who know these things are saying it’s now because they had immediate intelligence, couldn’t wait. So, who has tfg been hanging with most recently? Could it be …The House of Saud? It still could be meant for Putin.
Immediate intelligence. From someone who was there?

Re: trump (the former guy)
Some speculation. If the searched for item(s) are documents; for someone known to avoid putting anything in writing (and destroying documents) what would tfg consider worth the danger of keeping? If it were anything already “used” why would he keep evidence of wrongdoing? The thoughts that come to mind are, something he could use to his future advantage (possibly incriminating others and/or as insurance against future prosecution), something containing evidence of dubious (financial?) dealings with foreign entities, or even something to brag about to a select few.
Unless, as one would assume it must be, it is something much more important than “just” a simple breach of the Presidential Records Act, the raid will be a wonderfully effective motivator for Trumpist/Republican voters ahead of the mid-term elections.

A hotel room type of safe? The FBI did not need to break into it in any physical manner. Their lock specialist just huffed and puffed and the thing was open in under five minutes. Never keep any valuables in those safes.
PS. I bet the well known hotel management default emergency key was never changed

Former acting AG Matthew Whitaker was on Fox & Friends this morning. They claimed that this was about classified documents. They say the documents were all declassified when he took them, and “they just need their stamps updated.”

Re: trump (the former guy)
I haz questions. Does the declassification of documents belong to the office, not the person, like executive privilege does? If tfg didn’t actually declassify the purloined documents, does the choice to declassify them now belong to Biden or tfg?
This seems to be the Trumpers’ argument. Trump could declassify the documents at any time so no biggie.
