I don't post local shootings because that would be a full time job. Our mass shootings don't even make the news any more. In one 9 hour period we had a 6 yo, a 9 yo, a 15 yo and a 12 yo shot. Fortunately, only the 12 yo was a fatality.

Shooting at a local festival a couple of weeks ago, 1 dead, 6 injured.

We're already above this time last year in homicides and last year set a record.

The top states by gun death rates are:
Mississippi -- 28.6.
Louisiana -- 26.3.
Wyoming -- 25.9.
Missouri -- 23.9.
Alabama -- 23.6.
Alaska -- 23.5.


All of those states with the highest gun death rates are among the ones with the highest gun ownership rates.
Mississippi -- 50% of adults live in a household with a gun.
Louisiana -- 48%.
Wyoming -- 59%.
Missouri -- 48%.
Alabama -- 50%.
Alaska -- 59%.


According to Everytown's analysis of FBI data, the cities with the highest gun homicide rates in 2020 were all in states with lax gun laws:
Jackson, Mississippi -- 69 gun homicides per 100,000 people.
Gary, Indiana -- 64.
St. Louis -- 50.
New Orleans -- 48.
Memphis, Tennessee -- 47.

I keep seeing this one get passed around from the other day. So here goes. Guy goes the grocery shop, open carrying a rifle. Another armed dude relieves him of said rifle. Dude in the first place goes to his car and retrieves, I guess his backup gun? A shoot out ensues. The guy that robbed the rifle gets shot. The guy that shot him flees. Two innocent women get plugged, non-life threatening. Then a third dude shows up, plugs the second dude that stole the rifle AGAIN, and then he flees. The LA one, the kid was shot OUTSIDE the school at dismissal. Not sure how hardening the school with a single entrance would have helped that.
