Best thing I've seen in days!
https://www.independent.ie/videos/enter ... 55621.html
At Dog's Trust this year, instead of buying each other Christmas presents, the staff decided to do 'Secret Santa Paws' for the dogs in their Rehoming Centre. Some dog's are a bit more picky than others.

Dog's Trust published the video on social media saying: "This year, instead of buying each other gifts, we decided to do 'Secret Santa Paws' for the dogs in our Rehoming Centre and then let them pick their own toy.

"As you will see, some were more eager than others and some wanted more than one toy at a time. We hope you smile as much as we did watching the dogs have so much fun! Merry Christmas!!"

The charity found a 30% increase in people looking to give up their dog in January 2018, compared to the previous year.

Dogs Trust recently announced that they will suspend the rehoming of dogs from their centre over the festive period to prevent people rushing out to get a dog for Christmas.

You can find out more about the dogs in this video here.

TSA phasing out pointy-eared dogs because they scare children

Sorry, Rin Tin Tin. Your German shepherd features are no longer what the Transportation Security Administration is looking for in an airport screening dog.

Specifically, it's your ears. They're too pointy.

"We've made a conscious effort in TSA ... to use floppy ear dogs," TSA Administrator David Pekoske told the Washington Examiner during a recent tour of operations at Washington Dulles International Airport northern Virginia.

"We find the passenger acceptance of floppy ear dogs is just better. It presents just a little bit less of a concern," Pekoske said. "Doesn't scare children."

Years ago, we had two Doberman Pinschers, both from the same litter. Both really liked people. Teddy, a beautiful black and tan dog, was Jack's dog. Falstaff, a homely red Doberman, was my dog. Neither had their ears cropped. (Pointy). Most people recognized Teddy as a Doberman Pinscher, but Falstaff, because of his coloring and lack of pointy ears, was generally thought to be a big hound. It always cracked me up when Falstaff was being petted by people, with his eyes blissfully closed, and they would inquire into his breed. I would say "Oh, he's a Doberman Pinscher" and they would get a very startled look on their face.

Around 1975 I was loaned to one of our vendors In Cambridge Massachusetts to help them customize a programmable editing terminal that they had sold us. One of our subsidiaries in Montreal was using an editing system which I had helped develop and they needed some software changes. Management decided that the easiest thing was for me fly up to Montreal for the weekend and make the changes. Unfortunately, the development software wasn’t in Montreal so they were going to send some computer desks so that they would be there for me.

And of course, the disks didn’t arrive. So I was stuck in Montreal for the weekend. I actually love Montreal and I was staying at a hotel that I really enjoyed so I didn’t think that would be much of a problem. But one of the people at our subsidiary had a great idea. There was a dog show at the convention center at my hotel and both he and his wife had dogs there. He had Dobermans and his wife had some kind of terrier.

Needless to say, I am not a dog person. Perhaps it’s because I was twice bitten by dogs while I was minding my own business. In any case a dog show was the last thing I really wanted to see. But come Sunday I was getting bored and thought what the heck. Well it was nothing like I imagined. For starters when I entered the convention center I did not hear a single dog barking. I guess I should’ve Realized that show dogs are incredibly well disciplined.

But most amazing of all to me was the Dobermans. When I got to the exhibit ring, the dogs are all sitting around the periphery and little children were reaching through and putting them in grabbing their tails and the dogs just sat there perfectly calm. Proper training makes all the difference in the world.

Training aside, some doggies are just naturally tolerant.

Speaking of "training" I love this dog. :lovestruck:

Every dog has a purpose 🙂. Clearly Ryker’s purpose is not to be a service dog. Check out this video documenting his good hearted attempt 😳. Disclaimer: This Training was attempted by trained professionals 😳do not try at home #jesus

Penny Willow Maybe not a service dog for the disabled but an awesome best friend for someone who is mobile and active...and has no personal belongings and plenty of liability insurance. And sleeps with one eye open.....and doesn’t own a fridge.

Found a playmate for Pacino, finally. Maggie was sent here by a Saluki rescue in Oman that scoops up unwanted litters of Saluki mixes and ships them to the States for adoption.

She’s 5 months, 18 pounds, and Pacino’s nanny instinct allows them to play without wrecking the house or escalating into a dominance battle.

She looks to be part schnauzer. What a cutie, eh?

Some dogs like their veterinarian, like my Boston Terrier. When it comes to the Miniature Schnauzer, I just glad he allows the vet to examine him without trying to bite. Fortunately, she has one at home that looks like his twin brother.
