For not being cat people, you sure know how to pick ‘em. She is a beautiful, delightful grrrl and y’all are so fortunate.

She, too. 💕💕

ETA: my long haired tuxie, Sabbath, has gotten a huge poop stuck in his bottom fur. I’m bloody from trying to make this 20 LB. animal lie still while I work it out. Wanna trade?

Put hair conditioner on it and give it 30 mins or so to work and it should just comb right out.

The vet tech said she was so soft that everyone wanted to pet her. Ellie was also amazingly soft. Mink coat and sable ears, the high-priced vet said. I have feeling she would know.

Tricksy is so good! She's putting up with the t-shirt shirt we improvised, and still mellowed out from the meds.

Sugar Magnolia, if you’re not a Southern Wonder.... :swoon:

THANK YOU, you have saved my sanity, my kitty’s butt and quite possibly his life, what with him scooting all over the carpet with that big 💩 on his behind, trying to scrape it off. I’m not done cleaning up after him, or cleaning him, but the hair conditioner worked great!!

Is there anything you don’t know how to do? :lovestruck:

My grandmother (the Cajun one) used that trick on her long-haired cat that was very prone to mats. I figured if it worked on those it would work on shit.

The cat went missing not long after my grandfather died and my grandmother was still trying to figure things out without him (like driving....she never learned to drive, or write a check) so she was frantic when she couldn't find Cat. She would call my mother, literally in mourning for the cat that had been gone for about 2 weeks at this point, saying she could hear Cat calling for her in her sleep. It was a huge crisis and my mother was on the verge of making the 3 hour drive down there she was so worried. Fortunately, my grandmother called practically as my mom was walking out the door to tell her she had found Cat. She had been closed up in a drawer in the china cabinet the whole time. We found out later my grandmother would walk around the house talking to Cat and Cat would talk back to her, but it apparently never occurred to her that the damn cat was actually alive. She had already decided the cat was dead so was obviously communicating with her from the other side. That did not strike us as the least bit odd.

You need to do a podcast of stories of your family.

The Bayou Home Companion.
She did literally grow up on a bayou. Rotten Bayou to be exact. Also called Bayou Beneshwa, which just means Rotten Bayou in Choctaw (I think it's Choctaw, could be some other native language though) but sounds fancier and more mysterious. My great grandparents came from France. A French Quevas married a Spanish Cuevas (or maybe the other way around, I can never remember which is which) and came to the US. They got on a barge with a cow and a piano and went up the bayou until they bottomed out, then got off the barge and built a house. Literally right next to where the barge bottomed out. Like, the bayou ran about 5 feet from the wrap-around porch. After a few years, and a few floods, my grandfather decided it was easier to re-route the bayou than move the house, so he did. They also had a sawmill on the property beside the house and the huge sawdust pile caught on fire one time and smoldered for several years.

My mother is still terrified to this good day by pigs because they used to get drunk on the moonshine mash and chase people.

FDJ did a periscope of the kittens and mama today. I needed something happy on this sad day of a very rough week.

Borrowed from twitter: This picture of a crow is interesting because...it's actually a cat.
