Pro-Impeachment Protests Planned in US Cities on Eve of Historic House Vote

Tuesday's nationwide rallies, called "No One Is Above the Law," are organized by the activist group Move On in alliance with other progressive groups

Vicki Miller is helping to organize one of more than 600 protests planned on the eve of the House's vote on impeaching President Donald Trump because, for the retired lawyer from Philadelphia, the evidence is clear.

"You can't solicit the help of a foreign government in an election," she said.

Tuesday's rallies, called "No One Is Above the Law," are organized by the activist group Move On in alliance with other progressive groups. They will mostly take place at 5:30 p.m. in prominent public spots such as Times Square in New York City and across from the Los Angeles City Hall.

In Philadelphia, protesters will gather across from City Hall in Thomas Paine Plaza. Miller hopes the protest there will show the world that Americans will not stand for Trump's behavior. Close to 2,000 people had registered for the Philadelphia rally by Monday evening, and if half that number attend, it will be a good showing, she said. Trump's crimes are in plain view, she said, among them extortion and bribery.

"It's well past time for citizens to be marching in the streets," she said.

My 95-yo mother, on hospice, who can barely speak because it exhausts her, wished me well, said she was thrilled I was going and she hoped we don't get arrested, but if we do, it's for a good cause.

Not that I expect to get arrested, but I've been reading that trumpies are planning to infiltrate and cause trouble.

(Not that I mean to compare you to my mother, TRL. Just pointing out that we know you, and many like you, are with us in spirit.)

Great photos. It wasn’t possible for me to do this today, but I appreciate all of you and all of them who did.

I'll post photos tomorrow. Great signs! Our little red town had a pretty decent turnout, 300-400 of us and maybe 75 or so trumpers who did their best to drown us out.

They failed.

Good trick. When they start shouting Four More Years! start singing the Star Spangled Banner or America the Beautiful. And if they start singing it, join in.

However, this was the most heated rally I've been to and I half expected fights to break out. I did see one old trumper trying to hit a woman with his sign, as she was asking him (heatedly) about something. I started over, but one of his buddies pulled him back. Then when Cindy Banyai*, who is running to replace Rooney, began speaking and talking about the 1st amendment, right on cue a trumper started shouting he had the 2nd amendment. That worried me a bit but we drowned him out and I didn't hear it again.

Overall, it was quite exhilarating. I will be hoarse for the rest of the week. I'm sure Hubs will appreciate the quiet.

*I really, really, REALLY like this woman. She's a firebrand. @swflmom2020

Two huge rallies in Columbus, total of about 2500 people. At one, it is rumored that Ex-Gov. Kasich was there. Will try to post photos tomorrow.

So much for waiting until tomorrow. I'm too hopped up on Pepsi and adrenaline. I'll post photos under the spoiler tag. There were so many great ones, I've tried to narrow it down as much as I could.
