Not to even mention that a big part of the real problem is employers who hire and exploit undocumented workers, and are rarely held to account for it. start putting the HR managers of a few hundred employers, and the owners and upper management that turned a blind eye in jail for few years, and you'd see some loss in the incentive to come here.

Some of these employers are real shits, too. Here in Cincinnati about 10 years ago, a roofing company was doing a large apartment complex, and after a phase of about 5 buildings was almost done, and it was time to pay the undocumented roofers, the supervisor call Immigration and 30 odd of them were arrested and some deported. Even though he was paying something less than minimum wage he still owed them upwards of $100,000, which until he got called out on it, he intended to just pocket as found money. Of course, the bigger company just said ''they're a contractor anad we don't know about their employees''. Rotten.

When the rich white guys start crying that they can't staff the club or the meat packing house, someone might come up with policies that make some since.

It looks like a similar thing recently went down in Springfield MA.. big reno of an old building into apartments with city tax incentives.. but the contractor got caught doing a whole lot of substandard work by the building inspector and got hauled into court for that before he could make his getaway.

I really hate these scum.

OSSINING, N.Y — They had spent years on the staff of Donald Trump’s golf club, winning employee-of-the-month awards and receiving glowing letters of recommendation.

Some were trusted enough to hold the keys to Eric Trump’s weekend home. They were experienced enough to know that when Donald Trump ordered chicken wings they were to serve him two orders on one plate.

But on Jan. 18, about a dozen employees at Trump National Golf Club in Westchester County, N.Y., were summoned, one by one, to talk with a human resources executive from Trump headquarters.

During the meetings, they were fired because they are undocumented immigrants, according to interviews with the workers and their attorney. The fired workers are from Latin America.

The sudden firings — which were previously unreported — follow last year’s revelations of undocumented labor at a Trump club in New Jersey, where employees were subsequently dismissed. The firings show Trump’s business was relying on undocumented workers even as the president demanded a border wall to keep out such immigrants.

Trump’s demand for border wall funding led to the government shutdown that ended Friday after nearly 35 days.

In Westchester County, workers were told Trump’s company had just audited their immigration documents — the same ones they had submitted years earlier — and found them to be fake.

“Unfortunately, this means the club must end its employment relationship with you today,” the Trump executive said, according to a recording that one worker made of her firing.

Rayne, one of the admins on emptywheel.net, wrote an interesting post about how easy it would be to launder money through ritzy private golf clubs. Let's say you have 20 fake members who pay $50k to join the club. Add to that monthly membership fees, fake members throwing fake big events, etc., and it can begin to sound like something worth doing, if you're a crook.

Real estate is an easy way to launder a huge amount of money, but you could also launder millions through private golf clubs, just for a little walking around money.

‘My whole town practically lived there’: From Costa Rica to New Jersey, a pipeline of illegal workers for Trump goes back years ...

It’s a common story in this small town.

Other former employees of President Trump’s company live nearby: men who once raked the sand traps and pushed mowers through thick heat on Trump’s prized golf property — the “Summer White House,” as aides have called it — where his daughter Ivanka got married and where he wants to build a family cemetery.

“Many of us helped him get what he has today,” Angulo said. “This golf course was built by illegals.”

The Washington Post spoke with 16 men and women from Costa Rica and other Latin American countries, including six in Santa Teresa de Cajon, who said they were employed at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster. All of them said they worked for Trump without legal status — and that their managers knew.

The former employees who still live in New Jersey provided pay slips documenting their work at the Bedminster club. They identified friends and relatives in Costa Rica who also were employed at the course. In Costa Rica, The Post located former workers in two regions who provided detailed accounts of their time at the Bedminster property and shared memorabilia they had kept, such as Trump-branded golf tees, as well as photos of themselves at the club. ...

Trump’s election did not bring any added scrutiny to his workers’ immigration status, former employees said. Torres said superiors kept her name and those of other workers without legal status off a list of people to be vetted by the Secret Service before a Trump visit to the club in 2016.

What happens when trump refuses to pay the Scottish government? :-D
Scottish government wins Donald Trump wind power legal costs

Donald Trump's Aberdeenshire golf resort must pay the Scottish government's legal costs following a court battle over a major North Sea wind power development.
Mr Trump battled unsuccessfully in the courts to halt the project before he became US president.
A total of 11 turbines make up the development off Aberdeen.
Judges have now ruled Trump International Golf Club Scotland Ltd should pay the legal bills incurred.
Mr Trump had argued the development would spoil the view from his golf course at Menie.

Ethics watchdogs sound alarm over Trump tweet on Scotland golf course

An ethics watchdog raised alarms after President Trump tweeted on Saturday about his golf course in Scotland.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) said that Trump was using his position to promote his business.

"There it is," CREW tweeted. "The president is using an official statement as an ad for his business and making sure everyone knows he ties his business to US relationships with foreign countries."
............
A senior CREW adviser called the president's tweet "shameless, corrupt and repugnant."

"This is Trump’s most explicit commingling of personal interests and public office to date," wrote Walter Shaub, who used to head the Office of Government Ethics.

"This is the tone from the top that leads his appointees to violate ethics rules," he added. "This is shameless, corrupt and repugnant presidential profiteering."

Long read

Miami Herald
Wanted in Russia, he partied at Mar-a-Lago – and invested in cheap South Florida homes

Last year, President Donald Trump’s private Mar-a-Lago club hosted a black-tie “Safari Night” fundraiser for a favorite charity of one of his older sisters. The event included Chinese dancers, a silent art auction and one unusual guest: Sergey Danilochkin, a Russian real estate investor who had settled in South Florida after authorities in his home country accused him of taking part in a massive tax fraud linked to the most contentious corruption case of the 21st century.

Party-goers had no idea they were rubbing shoulders with a wanted man. While the guests sipped cocktails and studied photos of African wildlife, Danilochkin, who is also an aspiring journalist, filmed the bustling ballroom on a smartphone and posted the footage on YouTube. Holding a flute of champagne and wearing a dark suit, the Russian émigré addressed the camera in his native tongue, alluding to the uncanny way Russians seem to turn up in the president’s orbit.

“The most interesting thing,” Danilochkin said, “is that we met a lot of people here who speak Russian.”

Making it to Mar-a-Lago shows how far Danilochkin — who denies the charges against him — has come. In 2010, he fled Moscow fearing for his life as Russian authorities investigated his alleged role in a $170 million tax fraud. The case became big news, especially once it was linked to the organized-crime group behind the so-called “Magnitsky affair,” a Russian corruption scandal that dominated international headlines starting around 2009.

PALM BEACH, Fla. — Behind the clipped hedges of President Trump’s sumptuous private clubs in South Florida, including his Mar-a-Lago estate where he has spent many getaway weekends, there has long been a built-in contradiction to the policy the president has repeatedly described as “America First.”

Many of his employees have foreign passports.

Romanians serve dinner in lavish banquet halls. South Africans tend to guests at the spa. Britons bake elegant pastries. Most are young people hired as guest workers on special visas, living over the winter high season in a gated community with a sand volleyball pit and a movie theater. In the mornings, they dress in trim uniforms and are chauffeured by van over a bridge to the luxury compound six miles away in Palm Beach.

But that’s only part of the Trump resort work force in South Florida.

Alongside the foreign guest workers and the sizable American staff is another category of employees, mostly those who work on the pair of lush golf courses near Mar-a-Lago. Not offered apartments, they have been picked up by Trump contractors from groups of undocumented laborers at the side of the road; hired through staffing companies that assume responsibility for checking their immigration status; or brought onto the payroll with little apparent scrutiny of their Social Security cards and green cards, some of which are fake.

That second pool of immigrant labor is an embarrassing reality for a president who has railed against undocumented immigrants, one his company is scrambling to erase.

Embarrassing? I think not. Donald Trump appears incapable of embarrassment, one of his oh-so-many faults.
