Ben Carson says he's stepping down at the end of this term.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business ... irst-term/
WaPo reports this as "Ben Carson says he intends to leave his post at the end of President Trump’s term."

Let's hope this really ends on Jan 20 2021.
The article says he plans to finish out this term, then hopes to work in the private sector.
He worked in the private sector for most of his career. Odd that he doesn't seem to have much of an on-going relationship with the hospital since he left, which is unusual for someone who was supposedly a star there. I know someone who's a pediatric neurosurgeon and he always in demand even after having retired more than once.

I remembered we discussed this during his appointment by DJT. It seems he left under some undisclosed cloud of whatever. More as dismissed rather than volontary separation. IIRC we were wondering if he became a hazard in the operation threatre - that sleepiness does not look good for a surgeon who needs to be alert during tricky operations.

Yeah, I wasn't here then, but I remember something about that, too.

Cross posting. There's some chatter on MSNBC right now that the timing is rather close on the heels of the article on Fox and Trump.

Breaking on @MSNBC: Deputy chief of staff and W.H. Communications Director Bill Shine has offered his resignation yesterday evening.

According to CNN...
Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson is planning to resign and return to academia in the weeks ahead, according to a senior US official directly familiar with her thinking.

Wilson is planning to deliver a resignation letter directly to the White House the official said. Her resignation is not related to any issues at the Pentagon, the official insisted.

Wilson has long been skeptical of President Donald Trump's plans for a separate branch of the military devoted to space. Her name had been floated as a possible Secretary of Defense as well.

The official said Wilson will be named president of a major university. Prior to joining the Trump administration Wilson was president of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.

Shine doesn't count as under the bus, he's not fired. He's working on the campaign.

Wilson is a lower level Jamie Down the Hall. :-
In other news, scientists have discovered that water is wet. Film at 11.

https://www.alternet.org/2019/03/ethics ... -director/
Indeed, New Yorker reporter Jane Mayer found in a bombshell article this week that Shine has been receiving a $7 million payout from Fox News while he’s been working at the White House. Some speculated it may even have been Mayer’s revelations that triggered Shine’s departure.

“In December, four Democratic senators sent a letter to the White House counsel’s office, demanding proof that Fox’s payments to Shine don’t violate federal ethics and conflict-of-interest statutes,” said Mayer.

“Because Bill Shine had Fox stock options, the criminal conflict of interest law required him to recuse from any “particular matter” affecting Fox’s interests. A ‘particular matter’ includes a matter affecting an industry (news media) or parties (the outlets with WH credentials),” said Shaub Friday on Twitter.

My first thought about the ''going to ork on the campaign'' was that it is just a politic way of saying ''we're going to pay him $!5,000 a month to keep his mouth shut'' like they have already done with more than one person run out of Dodge.

I know it was probably a typo, Gregg, but could we try to not besmirch the ork race's reputation for class, dignity, and civility by even accidentally associating them with Trumpdom?

So, now we will get another acting Secretary with no Senate confirmation?

But other wise, I hope the door hits her on the way out.

Well, it’s not a done deal yet. Trump has to send a tweet saying the media are lying about Nielsen resigning. THEN he can fire her and say she resigned. (But she’s a woman, so perhaps there are different rules ...)

Considering the children in cages and all the other evil stuff she's done so far, I cringe to think that that reason she is resigning is because of something the Trumpenfuhrer/Stephen Miller want her to do that is much, much worse.

Nielsen was not generally expected to be pushed out.
Today's news that it would take (at least) two years to match up the detained children with their parents may have been a bridge too far for her.

Almost anyone's guess who might be next but don't be surprised if some elderly rightwing judges (e.g. Clarence Thomas) leave now so that Trump can appoint young rightwing judges to replace them.

Exclusive from @JuliaEAinsley : Trump wants to resume separating families and Nielsen resisted, which contributed to her ouster. She told him what he was proposing was now prohibited by court orders.
