Fauci is 79 years old. Getting the axe won't be terrible for him, but it won't be so good for the rest of us.

Trump can't fire him right now. Even he realizes that this would be very, very bad PR.

But, Fauci constantly contradicts POTUS, often in the same press conference, when Trump says something stupid or untrue (or both). We all know that the Orange One hates that.

I think, that, when the COVID-19 virus has receded and faded from the headlines, Fauci will get the axe.
Considering the future of the timeline it's very likely that individual-1 gets the axe before that :daydream:

I suspect that DOTUS's announcement today of lifting the stay-at-home orders in another week (as though he's the one who ordered them) will hasten the underbussing of Fauci.

Yes. He may very well try to pretend that it's all over. And he'll have Faux Spews on his side. My conversation with the Trump Humper at the Tire Kingdom showed me that Trump's newfound seriousness is not getting through to these people at all, they are still vomiting out the originally party line - it's all a hoax, nothing to see here, the media is trying to undermine Trump, etc. These people are not following any suggestions to stay home. I have seen zero evidence of anyone aside from the company that I work for, a healthcare company, taking it seriously.

Hoo boy! Fauci, in an interview the journal Science published Sunday.
Asked how he responds to falsehoods from the President during press conferences, Fauci said, "I can't jump in front of the microphone and push him down," according to the interview.
:snippity:
"I'm sort of exhausted," Fauci said in the interview. "But other than that, I'm good. I mean, I'm not, to my knowledge, coronavirus infected. To my knowledge, I haven't been fired."
:snippity:
"I know, but what do you want me to do?" Fauci replied. "I mean, seriously Jon, let's get real. What do you want me to do?"
:snippity:
Fauci also said he had never used the term "China virus." Asked if he ever would, Fauci responded, "No."
:snippity:
As the President spoke of the "Deep State Department," Fauci was caught on camera putting his hand over his face in apparent frustration.

"Have you been criticized for what you did?" Cohen asked.

"No comment," Fauci said.

I read somewhere that he has not attended all of them. He has a real job after all.

Politico
Immigration chief on thin ice for adopting Obama’s stance during crisis

The head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement drew fire from Trump officials for saying he would focus on risky offenders during the coronavirus outbreak.

Top Trump administration officials grew angry with Matt Albence, the acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, after he announced that immigration authorities would halt most enforcement efforts during the coronavirus outbreak, according to three people familiar with the situation.

The displeasure with Albence spread throughout Trumpworld and triggered worries about the political implications of adopting — even temporarily — an immigration stance similar to the Obama administration approach. “He’s been on thin ice for some time,” a fourth person said. ...

The change, announced March 18, is similar to an Obama administration policy that focused on immigrants who had committed crimes. Albence made the decision unilaterally, according to two people familiar with the matter.

After Albence notified lawmakers about the change in phone calls last week and the press release was issued, he was chastised by acting deputy secretary Ken Cuccinelli who wasn’t happy with him after the surprise announcement, according to a former senior DHS official.

Changing my vote from Azar to Jimmy Down the Hall, because I suspect the argument in the Situation Room and tension at the "press conference" yesterday mean that Fauci will be gone by the end of the week.

The sad thing is that Fauci's competence has been propping up Trump's approval rating vis-a-vis COVID-19, but Trump is too stupid to realize it. All he cares is that some know-it-all keeps contradicting him.

I think the stupid has been quite evident from the beginning. It's the not being the center of attention that is killing him, and is a sure fire road to termination.

Actually, that's not it, or at least not the whole picture. Fauci is appearing on more tv shows and getting more press than he is. You could kiss Trumps ass a million times, but get more press than him and you are out.

Grisham out as West Wing press secretary without having held a briefing
https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/07/politics ... index.html
(CNN)White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham is leaving the job without ever having briefed the press. CNN has learned she is returning to the East Wing as first lady Melania Trump's chief of staff as President Donald Trump's new chief of staff Mark Meadows shakes up the communications team in the West Wing.

Meadows is currently considering several candidates for the press secretary job, including Trump campaign spokesman Kayleigh McEnany. The new chief of staff is also considering hiring Alyssa Farah, the current spokeswoman for the Defense Department, for a communications role, among others, two sources with knowledge of the situation told CNN.
