Random stray thought. If Twitler fires Jeff Sessions, makes Lindsey Graham AG, could Nikki Haley be appointed to Graham's vacant senate seat?

10:30? That's before LAZYUS usually gets to work. He must be feeling extra attention starved this morning.

So she wasn't on the poll, I guess she's Jimmy Jenny Down the Hall.

Trump's gonna have to do better than that if he wants me to reset the poll again. :nope:

I doubt that Ivanka will be interested. UN ambassador is too much work for a professional kibitzer.

Maybe they'll break the role up then, and there'll be the grunt who does all the actual work and Ivanka who gets to pretend she's smart and sit in at some meetings (but not too many, because shopping.)

It wouldn't be legal. “A public official may not appoint, employ, promote, advance, or advocate for appointment, employment, promotion, or advancement, in or to a civilian position in the agency in which he is serving or over which he exercises jurisdiction or control any individual who is a relative of the public official.” 5 U.S. Code § 3110

Of course, the "law' isn't really binding on republicans anymore.

Sachs' Dina Powell about possibly replacing Haley in UN role

Brian Schwartz

Senior White House officials have held discussions with the former deputy national security advisor Dina Powell about succeeding outgoing Nikki Haley as the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, three sources tell CNBC.

One of these sources says Powell has become a favorite among people close to Trump to lead the U.S. delegation.

A source familiar with her thinking says she's happy at the investment bank and has yet to make a decision about another career-defining move.

Turns out Nikki's resignation letter was dated a week ago, the day after Donald mocked Dr. Ford. He held it until the hearings were over.

There are ideas that Nikki Haley has expressed and some actions that she has advocated (e.g., Iran nuclear and Human Rights) with which I do not agree. However, she is closer to what Andrew Sullivan (and I) have been advocating as Oakeshottian conservatism thsn anyone else now in the Trump maladministration.

Let us pray.

Dear Lord, in your almighty wisdom, let the inferences that Michael Wolff teased in Fire and Fury about Haley and Trump be true, and allow Ms. Haley to go full Stormy Daniels in her wrath, but with more incriminating evidence.

Amen.

We knew McGahn was leaving after the midterms, but that's three weeks away. I wonder if trump's attitude towards the Khashoggi murder had anything to do with the quick exit. Also, I'm hearing a lot of chatter it may be why Nikki Haley left suddenly.

Scoop: John Kelly and John Bolton engaged in a profanity-laced argument outside the Oval Office today, I'm told. The shouting match was so intense others worried one of the two men might immediately resign. Neither is resigning, I'm told.

Kelly, Bolton Get in Profane Shouting Match Outside the Oval Office

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles ... s-reemerge
It wasn’t immediately clear what the chief of staff, John Kelly, and the national security adviser, John Bolton, were arguing about. The clash is an indication that tension is resurfacing in the White House 19 days before midterm elections in which Republican control of Congress is at stake.

:snippity:

It’s not clear if Trump heard the argument. But the people said he is aware of it.
:waiting: Come on, someone leak all the gory details.
