A concideration
While rising to our nation’s highest office is an unparalleled honor, becoming President also involves many personal sacrifices. This week, Donald Trump may have made his first, reportedly “trad[ing] in” the Android phone widely believed to be his primary tweeting device for a Secret Service-approved smartphone.
Donald Trump's Bad Twitter Is Explained By His Bad Phone

According to a new New York Times report, Trump turned in his main cellphone (previously named as a Samsung Galaxy) this week for a “secure, encrypted device” with a new number.

“The official rationale was security,” reported the Times. “But some of Mr. Trump’s new aides, who have often been blindsided when a reporter, outside adviser or officeseeker dialed the president-elect directly, expressed relief.”

Shortly after the election, the newspaper reported that Trump worried about becoming isolated if his personal Android phone were taken away as part of his transition into the White House. While messages on Donald Trump’s Twitter account come from both Android and iOS devices, the (statistically angrier) Android tweets are thought to be personally written by the President-elect and not staffers.

The guy is a twit addict. If he can't get the rush of attention from his twits, he will be looking for some other way to feed his narcissism. stay tuned for an unnofficial SFV account to spring up soon after he goes crazy during the night.

Interior Department told to stop tweeting after unflattering retweets about Trump

The Interior Department was ordered Friday to shut down its official Twitter accounts — indefinitely — after the National Park Service shared two unsympathetic tweets during President Trump’s inauguration.

The first noted the new president’s relatively small inaugural crowd compared to the number of people former president Barack Obama drew to the National Mall when he was sworn into office in 2009. The second tweet noted several omissions of policy areas on the new White House website. A Park Service employee retweeted both missives on Friday.

“All bureaus and the department have been directed by incoming administration to shut down Twitter platforms immediately until further notice,” said an email circulated to Park Service employees Friday afternoon.

The email, obtained by The Post, described the stand-down as an “urgent directive” and said social media managers must shut down the accounts “until further directed.”

Interior has dozens of official Twitter accounts at its multiple offices and 10 bureaus, which include the Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Geological Survey.

This is seriously bad. The Park Service as well as individual parks were really seriously connecting and promoting public lands with their Twitter accounts. They are going to have to set their support group's twitter in motion. This was a huge way they were fighting the Bundy-like rhetoric and keeping public land in front of the masses.

National Park Service apologizes for tweets critical of Trump

The National Park Service apologized Saturday for tweets a day earlier that pointed out the crowd size at President Trump's inauguration.

"We regret the mistaken RTs from our account yesterday and look forward to continuing to share the beauty and history of our parks with you," the National Park Serivce tweeted. ...

The National Parks Service Twitter account remained active, but the posts in question were removed.

Not sure if this is the right thread. These is about tweets to Trump @realDonaldTrump. I follow #Trumpgrets and an awful lot of people who say they are Native Americans are begging Trump to reconsider DAPL. First, I'm having a hard time understanding why Native Americans would vote for Trump, and, second, why are they surprised he's going ahead with it? I think he made it pretty clear during the campaign.

Do you think Trump could get the Republicans to repeal the Posse Comitatus Act? It dates from 1878 so he can talk crap about modernizing the country, say it's outdated, etc. Would the Republicans actually like to repeal the Act?

Many of the more radical right wingers are very afraid about the government coming after them using the military. I doubt Republicans in the Congress would want to repeal Posse Comitatus for fear that Trump might then use the military against those of them who are not sufficiently loyal to Trump.

Trump apparently called Chelsea Manning a "TRAITOR" in a tweet.

Why is that a problem? Chelsea Manning's court-martial conviction is still undergoing appellate review. If her conviction and sentence are not set aside in their entirety by the Army Court of Criminal Appeals, she can petition the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces for further review. One of the judges who currently sits on the Court of Appeals For the Armed Forces, Judge Margaret Ryan, is on Trump's shortlist for appointment to the Supreme Court.

I think at the very least trumps tweet is going to generate a lot of unnecessary appellate litigation unless Judge Ryan recuses herself from any consideration of any appeal that might be filed by Chelsea Manning in the future.

Unlawful command influence is a big deal in the military. As commander-in-chief, Trump ought to keep his mouth shut. Obama learned this lesson the hard way in the Johnson and Fuents sexual assault cases; I guess they all do eventually.
