58th Inauguration: January 20, 2017

Post by MN-Skeptic »

I thought we should have a thread for all things relating to Inauguration Day - the event, the protests, etc.

I think it's hilarious that Trump is having issues attracting talent to perform. Jackie Evancho will sing the national anthem. Apparently Andrea Bocelli will also perform. How ironic is it that Trump is importing foreign talent to perform at an iconic American event? Making America Great Again, I guess.

I think Ted bombed so badly at the RNC that he's not even "D" list any more.

But for $250 it's an open bar, all ya can drink.

Remember when his hotel charged $100 for a bucket of beer, this thing is a bargain!

But that's only for 90 minutes. Even at $10 a drink you'd have to down one every four minutes or so to break even.

Amateurs. Everyone who has owned or managed a bar knows that short duration open bars are the path to a vomit soaked disaster.

That and no glassware on St. Patrick's day are the two basics.

There are official inaugural balls and many more unofficial inaugural balls. I did a search and found this list of the balls. They don't have information yet on the official balls.

Nonprofit Run by Donald Trump’s Sons Offers Inauguration Access for $1 Million
Carrie Levine / Center for Public Integrity

Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump are among the nonprofit's directors

A new Texas nonprofit led by Donald Trump’s grown sons is offering access to the freshly-minted president during inauguration weekend — all in exchange for million-dollar donations to unnamed “conservation” charities, according to interviews and documents reviewed by the Center for Public Integrity.

And the donors’ identities may never be known.

Prospective million-dollar donors to the “Opening Day 2017” event — slated for Jan. 21, the day after inauguration, at Washington, D.C.’s Walter E. Washington Convention Center — receive a “private reception and photo opportunity for 16 guests with President Donald J. Trump,” a “multi-day hunting and/or fishing excursion for 4 guests with Donald Trump, Jr. and/or Eric Trump, and team,” as well as tickets to other events and “autographed guitars by an Opening Day 2017 performer.”

Website TMZ.com first published a brochure hyping the happening. The brochure says that “all net proceeds from the Opening Day event will be donated to conservation charities,” but it does not name the charities or detail how net proceeds will be calculated.

Sounds as if some people with more money than they know what to do with will be paying for a canned hunt at Ted Nugent's game farm.

The official and unofficial inaugural balls & parties happen with every President, at least since JFK.

My worry is the anti-Trump demonstrations in Washington on Inauguration Day. I don't know if they'll be entirely peaceful or what the police/TrumpChump response will be. And whether having all those billionaires in one place at one time will be too great a temptation to real troublemakers.

I have a daydream where Kluxers in their sheets jump off the curb during the parade and try to march as a unit in front of the reviewing stand.

Please tell me that "team" includes Dead-eye Dick Cheney.

And you know where the donations are going to end up -- in the pockets of the Shitgibbon's spawn. The Trumps like to raise money for charities but the available evidence (such as it is) suggests that they're not in the habit of actually funding charities. Sekrit Stuffs!
