I've never been a big fan of torturing a phrase to come up with a good acronym in the title of a law. Call it the "Quit paying the phucking crook Act" and be done with it.

President Trump’s failed bid to host the Group of Seven (G-7) summit — a gathering of key world leaders — at his own resort next year is a dangerous sign of things to come, and the public’s need for information about his administration’s activities has never been greater. On Oct. 17, acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney announced the selection of the Trump National Doral Miami resort in Florida to host the G-7 summit in 2020. Two days later, amid an avalanche of public fury and expressions of concern by his political allies, Trump personally rescinded the selection of his resort by tweet at 9:52 p.m. on Saturday.

But questions remain about how this previously unimaginable ethical failure could have occurred, and we urgently need the kind of answers that the State Department’s inspector general can provide. These answers would help us anticipate future ethical breaches and could be relevant to the ongoing impeachment inquiry, which is reportedly examining various facets of the president’s abuses of power.

Weird. The G-7 Summit isn't going to
@realdonaldtrump
's Doral resort any longer. But Doral still lists itself as fully booked for 16 days around the summit dates.

I've asked Trump Org why they're still listing the hotel as booked up. Will let you know!

David Fahrenthold @Fahrenthold
UPDATE: Nobody answered my questions, but the Trump Doral website was just changed, to un-block those dates. So Doral really *isn't* hosting the G-7.
We still don't know who is.
The US will end up offering Camp David as the venue for the talks. Totally inadequate, cause insufficient rooms at the location. It's not just the presidents that are chatting round a table. There are many one on one talks at lower levels between different nations going on the same time, with advisers and specialists of the respective delegations. And nobody will know how to accomodate the entourage of important six countries, the location is out in the woods. They will need a shuttle from Washington D.C. and the hotels there. I bet next The Post T hotel will make the news instead of Doral. Next best would be to try and occupy one of the mondaine winter resorts that would be standing empty during early summer. Aspen CO with its newly built wall will offer all the protection required ;) but leave dotus breathless.

Maybe the could go to The Greenbriar in West Virginia. If they are running short of space there, there is plenty in the basement.

EXCLUSIVE: What G7 dignitaries will miss at Donald Trump's Doral resort: Garbage dump views, the smell of jet fuel, moldy chaises, thin walls and bed bugs - but the service is superior and so is the golf
President Trump probably did a service to America by retreating from his plan to hold the G7 meeting at his Trump National Doral Miami golf resort
To take the full measure of the resort Trump has called 'one of the most exceptional in the world,' DailyMail.com went undercover for a three-day stay at the hotel
Diners at the resort's BLT Prime restaurant enjoy views of not just one but two county garbage dumps rising high above the golf course's palm-tree line
Guests lounging by the two pools were treated to the thunderous landings one minute apart of European airliners ending their cross-Atlantic jaunts

There were a few young Russian women milling about the clubhouse, a staple on many Trump properties like Mar-a-Lago. They likely couldn't afford to stay at Trump National if they weren't accompanied by men too old for them.

Our well-trained cart driver wouldn't acknowledge the presence of these women. He didn't see them, he said, before bringing up the G7 controversy.
Classy places these Trump properties are.

To which Trump replied, Fuck the law. I don't give a fuck about the law. I want my fucking money.

PS. What is holding this adminstration back from announcing the alternate venue? They only have to pick the 2nd from their list. Wouldn't it be a shame if the worlds largest economy could not come up with a decent camp out and picnic and a yuuuge bbq of roasted drumpf

I guess this conference will end up in New York. Thanks to the UN they have experienced hotels ready to accomodate diplomatic entourages. And if there are no seperate rooms available for the conference proper, they can always knock on the doors of the much maligned UN :-D

Only six more months to go until the grand opening!

I doubt they even had a list. And now, they really don't have anyone there who knows how to do a proper request for bids. They are waiting for someone to slip some cash under the table because that's how Donald believes it is supposed to work.

It reminds me of Biff's Hill Valley in Back to the Future II. It's an overdone fake luxury hotel surrounded by industrial waste ugliness.

I don't have any knowlege about it but I believe that under normal circumstances it would be the duty of the State Department to organize an international political conference like the G-x meetings. The Deep State is probably laughing their asses off over bumbling the WH and hoping that they don't get the idea to hand the task back after dotus hijacked the event. In my bestestes dreams I cannot think of anyone in the WH having the expierience of handling any sorts of conference larger than hanging out at the coffeevvee machine, even less managing a travel agency to get people into accomodations and transport among the locations.

There is no one competent to do it. They can't even suggest anything that would otherwise be competition for some Trump place, and the fact is, the time they have left to do it isn't enough to actually do it right.

At best its going to end up at Camp David with a long list of shit that should have but didn't because .....and it all boils down to it didn't get taken seriousaly until it was far too late to do it. Its like your daughter calling you up on a Thursday and reminding you that you promised her a big wedding in a cathedral and 200 guests and a reception on a boat etc.... and oh yeah, she's goinna get married next Saturday, but Daddy, you're going to love STEVEEEE...he's a bass player!

G2 through G7 should say "thanks, but no thanks" for a 2020 meeting because of the ineptitude of the Trump administration to get its shit together for a G7 meeting. All it takes is one country to start it and then the other countries will fall in line. Perhaps Macron? Or Trudeau?

The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island was apparently visited earlier this year. It was probably part of the normal preparation procedure from a group who assumed that there is a normal process for things like this. I would have no doubt that the team was caught completely off guard by a sudden announcement from the Toddler in Chief.

Trump wasn't gonna attend anyway - he has a couple rallies scheduled that weekend somewhere in the Deep South. Those folks will be much nicer to him than a buncha furriners from shithole countries. :smoking:

Secret Service agents had identified four U.S. sites as finalists for next year’s Group of Seven summit — but then they were told to add a new finalist: President Trump’s Doral resort, according to an internal Secret Service email released late Friday.

“Our original itinerary included Hawaii, Utah, California and North Carolina,” a Secret Service official wrote, describing a trip that a team of Secret Service personnel took in July to examine the finalists. “By departure, they had already cut two (California and North Carolina) and added Miami on the back end.”

“Miami” meant President Trump’s resort near the Miami airport, which hadn’t been among the original 10 sites that the Secret Service team had vetted. Although vetting of possible sites had begun in late May, the official wrote on July 12 that “yesterday was the first time we put eyes on this [Doral] property.”[/quote]

But it was a perfect phone call to request the addition of Doral. NO quid-pro-quo....

Too bad we didn’t have the G-7 here. I offered to pick up the entire cost, would have saved at least $35,000,000 for the USA. Best location. Very stupid people thought I would gain. Wrong! Looking at Camp David. Will announce soon.

Dear Donald, why pick up the ball and go home? You can still pay the treasury $35million green backs for a country side get-together in the green of Camp David?

Oh please make it happen at Camp David. That would be as perfect as any phone call you ever made to the president of some shithole country. Plenty of room for everyone, that world-renowned rural Maryland cuisine ... what could possibly go wrong? You can pay for the hamberders.
