Finiku and Other Bundy Poetry

For the poets among us to entertain.

Beatrice: Sigh no more, ladies, sigh no more. Men were deceivers ever. One foot in sea and one on shore, to one thing constant never. Then sigh not so but let them go and be you blithe and bonny, converting all your sounds of woe into hey nonny nonny.

All along the Jury watches
Groking on Mumford's gotchas
Ammon lies in carpet swatches
Knight's cross contains no botches

Looking forward to summation
Drooling with anticipation
Snark with the conversation
Where's Ammon's next vacation

What would a Finicku poem be without Burma Shave at the end?

The Bundy Clan's dim-witted crazies
Had a plot that would rival Scorcese's
But Finicum's, sadly
Was doomed to end badly
And now he's just pushing up daisies

The bitterest truth is healthier than the sweetest lie.

Words whizzing by
Lightening fingers fly
Sharp snark on tap
_______________________________________________

Arrogance in prime
Guarantees time
Showing of greed
Setting to breed
But first be freed
_____________________________________________
A child says daddy don't go
A woman weeps for all that could have been
The abyss of loneliness beckons

Sun glinting off pristine waters
Honking, cackling sage hens, wings flapping freely
Music on the desert reigns

Men in mid life crisis
Rattling guns, Banging gums, discontent on tap
Confusion, delusion, dreams shattered

Look for good and you will find it. Look for evil and it will surround you.
In life.. it takes far more positive actions to balance or erase a negative..

started, but not finished - filk

I am the very model of a modern day militiaman,
No matter what terrain I'm in my camo will be Desert Sand,
I know the Constitution, and can quote the text historical
Of Amendment 2 and Amendment 10, it's very metaphorical;

I'm very well acquainted, too, with prob-el-lems logistical,
I understand supply lines, both the real ones and the mythical,
About our food supply I'm steaming with a lot o' news,
With many angry rants about the dick-shaped chews.

When we were young and bold
It was on the ground we wrestled
Now that we are grown and old
It's public ground we rustled

Not clothed for January cold
I hitched a ride with Finicum
Hitched my hide to the plan I was told
To the Refuge will I come

Don't believe it's Federal controlled
The land belongs to locals
Believe the story Ammon sold
If the locals are out of state yokels

One thing is sure as gold
The Paiutes never mattered
Native treaties are annulled
As long as Ammon feels flattered

On the way
To John Day
When you arrive
On HWY 395
Give a wave
At Fini's grave
Burma Shave

How are you, Brother
I am fine, Brother
What'd you do, Brother
Made my mind, Brother

Would you join, Brother
Don't mind if I do, Brother
Where you going, Brother
Claim for you, Brother

What can they do, Brother
They harass you, Brother
Give it to you, Brother
Or trespass you, Brother

Which they chose, Brother
Neither one, Brother
Got their own rules, Brother
Think we're done, Brother

That would be the young lass Victoria Sharp who because she was showering missed the Spirit Van with the rest of the Sharp Singers, leading to her catching a ride with the Snow Angel Dancer LaVoy Finicum on the fateful excursion to see the Sheriff in John Day.

5 o'clock on Saturday
The Judge lays in wait
Evenhanded in every way
Better not be late

If you bring what she asks
It better be complete
Clear concise nothing to mask
There will be no repeat

A Monday response is called for
Feds chance to object
8 AM judge holds the floor
Tells them what to expect

Judge is ready to shut this down
Wants to keep it fair
No reason to be found
Reversal from upstairs

Preacher in the pulpit
Here on the witness stand
Spouting Patriot bullshlt
There is no Federal land

Challenge them many ways
Losing every one
Soon be counting days
In a Federal prison

Calling Ward's 2nd cuz
Said Dave liked the guys
Tactic won't work because
The Sheriff never lies

One more losersits and rambles
Said he found his place
Petition says court's a shambles
Judge should be replaced

Jury has been watching
Jury sees it all
Jury sees the botching
Jury makes the call

Trial end is nigh

Bungler gangs angst running high

Defense lawyers and pro se

Verbal puzzle pieces

Must fit the law

There can be no draw

Verdicts to be had

Emotional rollercoasters

Revving for that final crash

Weepy eyed wives

Confused children

But, Mom, You said!!!

I'm just a little old Grandma
Protecting little Miss Vicky
Don't remember what I saw
Please don't get too picky

Trapped we were in the truck
We had no where to go
Red dots don't push our luck
Outside is deadly snow

Defense entered Shawna's video
Thought they'd won the day
Not the Feds first rodeo
They let the incrimination play

Pictures of guns they hold
Don't tell us how they're used
Needs more of the story told
Expert testimony diffused

Although he didn't know anyone
David Fry drove on out
Hoping to meet Finicum
Learn what the protest was about

Thought it was just a sit in
About different squirrels learned
Hoped he would just fit in
When Fini died things turned

Had to stay to document
He was the camera guy
Had to stop the government
'Til he was talked out by the FBI

Something for the weekend
The Judge must chew upon
15 identities seekin'
Defense hangs last hopes on

Glory, glory hallelujah

You know you had it comin’ to ya.

Well many days have passed and I have stayed away during the hacking episode. Meanwhile over at O-Live I was persuaded to write a poetic daily summation of the trial. So culled from my other works there, here is the complete set for the trial.

Day 1 is in the books
Opening statements made
For Poots bad start it looks
Hopes for dismissal fade

Prosecutors did what they do
Laid out a clear outline
Mistakes they made were few
In the end they did just fine

Ammon and ryan were up first
But Shawna stole the show
She is full of self thirst
Restraint she'll never know

The rest were just regular folk
Helping out the Hammonds
Never let in on the joke
They were pawns of Ammon's

Carving out a special place
For Mr. David Fry
Staking out a mental case
He doesn't even know why

1st day that's a wrap
What're we looking toward
Prosecution baits the trap
Starting with Dave Ward
------------------------------------------
The theater of absurd is here
Give TruePatiotCowGurl a cheer
Is there a shofar we can hear
For the Poots reality is near

The case has been laid out
Hooray Dave Ward we shout
The defense Mumbles about
First 2 days are a rout

They delivered a deadly threat
Against the Sheriff you bet
Peaceful as you can get, nyet
But they weren't done just yet

Convinced a guy they were good
Said he'd help if he could
Brought a couple loads of firewood
Then got out like he knew he should

Fueled by government hate
Armed men at the gate
Man the tower before too late
Rule of law seals their fate
---------------------------------------
Watching a live feed of Pete
Of a protest down in town
Grew fearful jumped to his feet
Hearing they were Refuge bound

They came in an armed convoy
Cleared with military precision
Barricades at the gates by LaVoy
Staying away was an easy decision

Equipment was used
Filmed digging the trench
The place was abused
Leaving behind a stench

Defense questions and fumbles
Query land ownership banned
One trick Marvelous Mumbles
Judge's instructions be damned
-----------------------------------------------
First peek at Facebook
The state of their mind
We get our first look
What did the Feds find

Never attend a protest
Unless you are armed
Knows his way is best
Leaves citizens alarmed

A religious war
Promises to sin
Hard stand called for
Recruits pour in

Out of the jury's sight
Judge dealt with a motion
Disposed of it just right
LaVoid of any emotion
-----------------------------------------
Today's the day we got to hear
The appearance of the Blue Tarp
Seize the day have no fear
Dr. Beck plans to Carpe Carp

i, ryan polite to her face
On video his dismissal craven
Made use of her office space
Someone disappeared her Raven

Piles of trash and a wad of cash
And stolen computer code
Couch cushion liquor stash
Good outcome does not bode

Alice Through the Looking Glass
The wonder of Shawna's motions
On legal terms none shall pass
Her tears will fill the oceans

Commentatiat news, a meeting
In courtroom take their seating
The locals give Filly a greeting
Togetherness oh so fleeting
-----------------------------
Open the door with a big muddy boot
Inside the evidence indicates Poot
We wuz just cleaning oh what a hoot
Plenty of evidence the cameras did shoot

First reaction was what the hell
Several remarks about the smell
Tobacco stains in personal cell
If it were me I'd surely yell

The defense lawyers like to yap
About things not on tap
Objection brings a gavel rap
Line of questioning goes zap

Defense asks witnesses about their per diem
Incriminating videos we got to see 'em
Learned about Vicky and her carpe pee 'em
The Bundy Collective thinks we should free 'em

Shortly after Fini's fateful crash
Ammon found with eight thousand cash
Found the cell phone he did stash
Saw his life of freedom flash
--------------------------------------
Judge Brown controls her court
Her patience sorely tested
Feds own more than a fort
Agrees with Bundy the vested

No surprise the informer was Mark
Details of high risk traffic stop
Both trucks managed to park
In snowbank cowboy went plop

How wrapped up could Banta be
Coming late to the show
He's wrapped in a fantasy
We quickly came to know

Judge reminds the Bundy boys
About evidence of great weight
Talking to those microphone toys
Just might seal their fate
----------------------------------------------
At the Narrows having lunch
Six vehicles pass in a bunch
Saw men in the watchtower
Got scoped by rifles with power

On six dates he heard gunshots
How many? Lots, lots and lots
Did it sound like bird shot?
No Sir, it did not

If you don't know the answer
Don't question the rancher
Is targeting safe in a place so huge?
No Sir, nowhere in this Refuge

To no one's astonishment
The Judge issued admonishment
It matters when you sit or stand
DO NOT ASK QUESTIONS THAT ARE BANNED
--------------------------------------
Not much to report
No trial in court
Plan to kill Grasty abort
Scott's sentence was short

In Salem they had open carry
To empty rooms it wasn't scary
Many had faces real hairy
One scooter had a big load, very

What's the case with Mumford
Maxine gave us her word
He may be a wise old bird
Or simply a mumbling turd

Trial renews on Monday
20 Agents get their say
What they found that day
Their eyes on Malheur first lay
-----------------------------------------------
Thousands of rounds and guns they found
FBI put out on display
Defense frowns says call off the hounds
The boys just went off to play

Plans unfold with TITLES in bold
They had an action plan
We are told a bag of goods are sold
Without fingerprints of each man

Don't fan the flames you have no names
You really don't have much
It's really lame playing innocent games
Conspiracy is defined as such

Not to be outdone Shawna joined the fun
Filed another motion
Judge took this one before it saw the Sun
And filed it in the ocean
----------------------------------------------
Thirty four weapons brought out on the carts
Fourteens bins of ammo was off the charts
Just enough firepower to put fear in hearts
Prosecution rests, the defending starts.

The early witnesses we've seen before
Asking who got charges and why didn't more
"I tagged evidence, that was my chore."
That line of questioning goes out the door

Next Franklin Graham what can he say
He first talked to them after Fini's last day
He can't know why they intended to stay
His testimony an early Hail Mary play

Prosecution wrapped it tight as they could
Judge kept it tighter we knew she would
Defense gets their chance like they should
Here's to the cross being especially good
----------------------------------------------
Two FBI Agents attended the service
"You were sent there to observe us."
Said i ryan just a little nervous
Reply "Yes with our Faith to serve us."

Four from inside said plans were laid
Mark McConnell was probably paid
Was a death threat explicitly made
Differing versions the jury weighed

Token Indian describes the scene
People were friendly the place was clean
FBI called her but they are mean
Things she did her Tribe wasn't keen

This is the part I think is cute
Tape of Ammon talking in Poot
It wasn't his case he intended to shoot
Opened his mouth and inserted his boot
-----------------------------------------
They flew in the son Billy Graham sired
Flew his own plane so his arms weren't tired
Didn't know about the guns they fired
Helped 4 Poots from the camp they were mired

The defense showed up writ less
Forgot to subpoena a witness
Left them with Banta the witless
Proving their bus driving reckless

Defense searching to see what they got
So far it doesn't look like a lot
Almost as if their wad has been shot
Soon they will wrap up ready or not

We're still hoping to see you know who
Sheriff Dave Ward and Ammon too
Really what can the defense do
Every time they step they step into poo
-----------------------------------------
Writing here in Stumptown
Bendy pencil is all brown
Smell of it makes me frown
I will flush my pencil down

No meat in Theory 2
Nothing for Judge to chew
Prosecution towel is threw
They gave up wouldn't you

Shawna looks to be gun free
Her charges went to 1 from 3
This development don't worry me
Shawna's still got conspiracy

Well it's just about a wrap
Not much more on tap
Then it falls in the Jury's lap
Feather in the Judge's cap
-----------------------------------------
Try getting testimony
Untowards from Dave Ward
Objections sustained
To the words from Mumford
All Hail The Commentariat!

Ending up with Ammon
Takes the stand like they planned
Argues Adverse Possession
Take Public land right from our hands
All Hail The Commentariat!

Thanks go to BOTG
Attend the trial through all the bile
Reporting back to all of us
Bringing smiles make it all worthwhile
All Hail The Commentariat!

12 people sit on the jury
The case depends on our fellow citizens
We trust their duty they'll honor
Hope the message it sends land takeover ends
All Hail The Commentariat!
-------------------------------------------------------------
On the stand the witness was cryin'
This time it was Ammon 'stead of ryan
Sympathy card they keep tryin'
Here's hoping the jury ain't buyin'

Ammon said he had no choice
Cuz he said he had no voice
Cliven put it on his boys
Go to Malheur make some noise

All the Commentariat is on deck
Give his testimony a fact check
Combing through his Sov Cit dreck
Reveals it to be a wreck

Now we see if truth is boss
What to believe what to toss
Throw their movement for a loss
How's them apples, hoss
-------------------------------------------------------------
Mumford unfashionably late
Loves to make Judge Brown wait
Surely she is coming to hate
Advising to fish or cut bait

Two days of testimony
Regular dog and pony
Feeding us his baloney
We all know he's a phony

Just what is the defense game
Putting up that Fiore dame
Useless move less than lame
Final outcome still the same

Ammon sits on top of the world
Doling out his wisdom pearled
Sovereignty proudly unfurled
There goes lunch I just hurled
----------------------------------
I feel naked without my gun
But I never carried one
How does that work son
It's naked aggression

We knew we wouldn't be heard
Unless guns backed our words
We mean business rest assured
Don't set aside land for birds

After hearing Ammon yammer
Puting up with Mumford's stammer
Ethan Knight brings down the hammer
Send them off to the slammer

We got to hear Ammon boast
It's in the bag he can coast
He's been a magnanimous host
Still doesn't know he's toast
------------------------------------
The Judge in chambers sits
Ammon files his silly writs
She calmly cuts them to bits
Throwing Ammon into fits

Ammon plays us for fools
Plays his own set of rules
Guns are his talking tools
On the stand tearing pools

All along the Jury watches
Groking on Mumford's gotchas
Ammon lies in carpet swatches
Knight's cross contains no botches

Looking forward to summation
Drooling with anticipation
Snark with the conversation
Where's Ammon's next vacation

'Til he was talked out by the FBI

Something for the weekend
The Judge must chew upon
15 identities seekin'
Defense hangs last hopes on
-----------------------------------------------
The depth of gall is endless
Defense casts about
Asking for the Friends list
Looking for names to out

Submitted a list by ryan
Of names they wanted known
We know what they're trying
To get people's cover blown

They were just regular folk
Not government plants
Hiring a lawyer is no joke
Thanks you sycophants
-------------------------------------
Fabio one of the FBI plants
Testified in orange cargo pants
Accent 7 language enhanced
Swiss of South African France

Duane Schrock was alarmed
Agent Ben showed up armed
Careful he uses his charm
Ensuring there is no harm

Judge Grasty had his say
Asked the Bundys to not stay
Asked if Judge title OK
Yes it was earned Election Day

Jury request was landmark
Alternates are in the dark
Deliberations about to embark
They should ask to join our snark
-------------------------------------
With their videos they admitted
To the crimes they have committed
Concisely it was transmitted
Extraneous stuff omitted

They took what wasn't theirs
Taking in unequal shares
The people who work there who cares
The guns enforce their dares

Mumbles went on and on
It was all a government con
It had nothing to do with Ammon
Just make these charges be gone

IANAL so help me New Filly
The Refuge is the last can of chili
To me that just seems silly
Won't use that on appeal will he
-------------------------------------------------
The defense's final show
Intimidating it just wasn't so
People went to and fro
Peaceful like dontcha know

Why they hardly knew each other
Except for a couple of brothers
Just some sons and a mother
Bunkerville this wasn't another

Not peaceful when you arm the guards
Evidence the stand was too hard
Employees given no regard
Federal owners were barred

Now the trial is a wrap
Sits in the Jury's lap
Who does a victory lap
Who gets to feel like a sap
---------------------------------------
When you've never heard of Poots
Nor their Constitutional roots
Deliberation

Was a conspiracy hatched
What was the intent attached
Deliberation

Did they all together conspire
Or was one just a cook for hire
Deliberation

Intend to intimidate
In our hands we hold their fate
Deliberation

Cooking and cleaning Grandma
Thousands of documents in her paw
Deliberation

Did using their stuff
Make employees job tough
Deliberation

Whose fence did they hack
Were cameras meant to give back
Deliberation

Defense pass the test of smell
Only time will tell
Deliberation
---------------------------
A decision is not made
An accusation is laid
Close attention is paid
No farewells bade

Two notes from Jury are rare
Alternates request chair
Deliberation tiff laid bare
Judge Brown treating with care

Who knows what goes on in there
Are they pulling their hair
A decision nthat is a bear
In the end all will be fair
----------------------------
Hey what's all the furor
Just replacing a juror
Outcome not any surer
Just Pooting pot stirers

To Facebook they pounced
A victory they announced
Their hopes soon to be trounced
It's just the way the ball bounced

A new pool is started
For Commentariat big hearted
Some fivers to be parted
To Harney donations charted

The Stumptown Poot BBQ
Special doggies for you
Lighter fluid you chew
In side dogs who knows what grew
---------------------------------
11 is the loneliest number
Until 18 woke from a slumber

Into the room of twelve
Into case details delve

Time to get up to speed
4 your back should heed

Jurors state case by rote
Anything to add of note
Just want a final vote
---------------------------
Acquitted by a Jury of peers
Negating overreach fears
No matter what one hears
I give it three cheers

The Judge made sure it was fair
When selecting for the Juror's chair
Both sides interviewed with care
That's the Jury we got right there

Defendants presumed to be innocent
Onus of proof on Government
That's what the Founders meant
When they wrote that document

Possibilities I see three
There was no crime maybe
Wrong charge for the crime that be
Charges not proved for Jury to see

America love it or leave it
Freedom grateful to receive it
Feds case they didn't achieve it
Still hate Poots better believe it
-------------------------------------
Government must prove it's case
Beyond a shadow of doubt
Just put yourself in their place
Our Liberty is what it's all about

Some crimes I'm sure they did commit
Feds failed to find the right charge
Evidence didn't match what they did submit
Epic failure writ large

Judge and Jury did their best
Up to Government to prove
System passes another test
A high bar I approve

Wish things had come out different
Hard to get 12 to agree
If they do it twas what was meant
A bitter pill but reality

Beatrice: Sigh no more, ladies, sigh no more. Men were deceivers ever. One foot in sea and one on shore, to one thing constant never. Then sigh not so but let them go and be you blithe and bonny, converting all your sounds of woe into hey nonny nonny.
