dKos Elections: ● NY-14 (D) (78-20 Clinton, 81-18 Obama): Longtime Rep. Joe Crowley is the powerful chair of the Queens County Democratic Party and a senior member of the House leadership who has never faced a credible primary foe. However, activist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is hoping to shock the establishment by portraying the incumbent as an insider who's too close to corporate interests. Ocasio-Cortez is also arguing that Crowley, who is white, isn't the right fit for this plurality-Hispanic seat that also has a sizable black and Asian-American population. Crowley seems to be taking his campaign seriously, and he outspent Ocasio-Cortez by a hefty $1.1 million to $127,000 during the pre-primary period.

Holy shit, indeed.
You know what I hope? I hope that deeply entrenched, old, white, out-of-touch Dems like Pelosi and Schumer, among many others, take a good, hard look at this election and come to grips with contemporary Dem voters. If the blue wave comes, it will be because young people vote. We had better get those young voters excited. Ocasio-Cortez was able to do that.

The president could take lessons in grace from Joe Crowley.

Does she know, for example, that Andy Gant (R) handily beat Shananananana Cox (Nut) in a primary yesterday?
You know, Andy Gant who thinks that Mia Love is fabulous and just knows that we need more Republicans like Abraham Lincoln (I can't say that I disagree with him).

Here's the headline the AP used for their story about this, which gives the impression that this was an election that was lost by a Democrat to a Trump supporter.
Democratic heavyweight loses in New York as Trump picks win
And here's the opening paragraph:

And here's the opening paragraph:
Again, giving the casual reader the impression that the GOP is a powerhouse while the Dems are in disarray. I disagree we're in disarray. The strong support for new candidates contradicts that.NEW YORK — As Donald Trump's party came together, a 28-year-old liberal activist ousted top House Democrat Joe Crowley in the president's hometown Tuesday night, a stunning defeat that suddenly forced Democrats to confront their own internal divisions.
I've heard this bull before.

Ocasio-Cortez hits Trump for disrespectful comments about Crowley
New York congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) is defending Rep. Joseph Crowley (D), whom she defeated earlier this week, after President Trump attacked the 10-term congressman.
Ocasio-Cortez told CNN's John Berman on Thursday she was “saddened and upset” at the disrespect Trump has shown Crowley since her shocking primary upset in New York’s 14th Congressional District.
“It is unacceptable to be disrespectful of Congressman Crowley,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “He’s done some phenomenal, phenomenal work for the Bronx and Queens."
She added that Trump’s comments were “bizarre.” ...
The 28-year-old democratic socialist said on Wednesday that she would support impeaching Trump if she won the general election in November.

I'm not sure what Kennedy's intentions were to retire now. If it were 2 months later I would feel it could be interpreted to give push to the midterms for Democrats. It certainly will be--if we can keep a Judicial appointment from being pushed through. Which is frustrating when juxtaposed with the way the Gorsuch appointment was handled. I've seen some candidates pushing for Single Payer Healthcare which many, including myself, feel is the best answer for many concerns. Is there a budget analysis you're aware of what it would mean if it were SS for all?

Some folks are saying I won for “demographic” reasons.
1st of all, that’s false. We won w/voters of all kinds.
2nd, here’s my 1st pair of campaign shoes. I knocked doors until rainwater came through my soles.
Respect the hustle. We won bc we out-worked the competition. Period.
