Thanks, Joe.[/highlight]The St. Louis Post-Dispatch has a [/break1]stltoday.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/article_512538ba-80de-5ea4-9d1d-9b7cd926eacb.html]brutal piece on this free-spending fellow, who is a Tea Party favorite. He'll be running against Democratic Governor Nixon.

Congressman Todd Akin will be considered a threat to the re-election of Sen Claire McCaskill. Lt Gov Peter Kinder will not be considered a threat to Gov Jay Nixon's re-election.Peter Kinder, the front-runner for the GOP nod, hasn’t even officially launched a campaign yet — but he’s already being privately written off by members of his own party. What’s worse: They believe the lieutenant governor’s bizarre antics and undisciplined behavior have turned him into a punchline who could become a heavy drag at the top of the ticket.[/break1]politico.com/news/stories/0611/56457.html]http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0611/56457.html

Still unannounced, Kinder raises $979K

Missouri Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder raised $979,155 over the last three months for a still unannounced campaign for governor, according to figures released first to POLITICO.

Kinder, who recently was the beneficiary of a high-dollar fundraiser by Texas Gov. Rick Perry, will report $1.6 million on hand for his likely challenge to first-term Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon.

Adviser Jared Craighead noted that Kinder's second quarter figure is better than the $946,820 Nixon took in as a challenger at the same point in 2007. There are no contribution limits on donors in Missouri. ...

Nixon has reported almost $1.4 million in contributions over $500 so far this quarter, so it's estimated that his final tally raised will be somewhere between $1.5 and $1.6 million.

Lt Gov Kinder's fundraising totals need to be viewed along those of Gov Nixon's.Nixon outraised his putative rival in the three months that ended June 30 by about $400,000.In campaign finance reports due Friday, Nixon's campaign will report raising $1.4 million for the quarter. Kinder's reports will show raising just under $1 million.[/break1]stltoday.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/political-fix/article_a63edeac-aef4-11e0-9483-001a4bcf6878.html#ixzz1SE31pZoC]http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/govt ... z1SE31pZoCThe race is expected to be expensive. I'll stand by my earlier comment regarding the Lt Gov's prospects for defeating Gov Nixon.
Edit: Nixon has a 14 point lead over Kinder in a recent (May) poll.[/break1]realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/governor/mo/missouri_governor_kinder_vs_nixon-1805.html]http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls ... -1805.html

Lt Gov Peter Kinder has yet to declare his political intentions for 2012 but keeps raising campaign funds. He hasn't returned the $165k to David Humphreys that Humphreys wants back after Kinder's escapades became public. Kinder is maintaining a low profile (that's quite an accomplishment for him) and hoping someone/anyone will screw up bigger than he did.[/break1]stlbeacon.org/voices/blogs/political-blogs/beacon-backroom/113602-kinder-reports-155-million-in-the-bank-postponing-decision-until-november]http://www.stlbeacon.org/voices/blogs/p ... l-novemberMy guess is that Gov Jay Nixon is not worried about Kinder's political aspirations. The polls I've seen suggests Missourians aren't concerned either (Nixon +19 in the latest).[/break1]realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/governor/mo/missouri_governor_kinder_vs_nixon-1805.html]http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls ... -1805.html

It appears that somebody is through waiting for Lt Gov Peter Kinder to decide if he will be running for any political office in 2012. There will probably be more who have decided they have waited long enough.Container executive Dave Spence originally said he would wait to decide what Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder would do before making his own decision about running for governor.Looks like he got tired of waiting.Spence, head of Alpha Packaging in Overland, says that he will seek the GOP's nomination for governor — even as Kinder plans his next step.[/break1]stltoday.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/political-fix/st-louis-container-executive-says-he-will-run-for-governor/article_7576bd22-0fb0-11e1-960a-0019bb30f31a.html]http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/govt ... 0f31a.htmlI won't be surprised to watch Kinder attempt to quietly disappear from public view. Missourians should expect an article soon about Kinder returning to private practice (and spurring the local economy at the neighborhood titty bars) at the conclusion of his term as Lt Gov.

In the last few days Missouri Republicans have been changing their minds about which office, if any, they now want to run for. For a couple of days the big news here was that Republican House Speaker Steven Tilley had abandoned his campaign for Lt Gov.Friday there was bigger news. Lt Gov Peter Kinder announced he was not running for Governor against Gov Jay Nixon. Instead, Kinder announced he would seek re-election. I have to admit I am surprised (but not disappointed) Kinder is not quietly going back to Cape Girardeau.Newspaper articles such as this will probably accompany Kinder on the campaign trail.Over the summer, he was forced to answer questions about past visits to a strip club after a recent photo of him and a former exotic dancer was published by the Riverfront Times. The photo was taken at a St. Louis bar that promised "every night's a pantless party."[/break1]stltoday.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/peter-kinder-drops-out-of-governor-s-race/article_79b64b04-1b40-5593-bc89-72d3f4c20e43.html]http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/govt ... 20e43.html

Two Missouri Republican large donors switch sides.A spokesman for retired businessman Rex Sinquefield said Monday that he was contributing $385,000 to state Sen. Brad Lager’s challenge of Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder. The Missouri Ethics Commission website on Monday showed that businessman David Humphreys also recently gave an additional $250,000 to Lager. Both Sinquefield and Humphreys had written large checks to Kinder as recently as last year, when it appeared Kinder would run for governor.Humphreys dropped his support of Kinder after media reports that Kinder repeatedly visited a strip club in the 1990s. Kinder later decided to seek re-election.[/break1]newstribune.com/news/2012/jun/25/2-big-donors-switch-sides-mo-lt-govs-race/]http://www.newstribune.com/news/2012/ju ... govs-race/
