Redistricted by the heavily Democratic MD House to try to get rid of 86 year old republican Roscoe Bartlett who quite frankly is an embarrassment. Recently he compared student loans to the Holocaust (yes, really). He has a cabin in WV so he can go off grid in case of attack.Running against a wealthy financier named Jim Delaney who is close friends with the Clintons but a political novice.MD District 6 has been around since the beginning of our nation. The first rep was Daniel Carroll who signed the Constitution, whose brother signed the Declaration of Indepence and whose other brother founded Georgetown University. I will be heartbroken if they elect an octogenarian tea-bagger.

After the 2010 Census, Maryland lawmakers rejiggered boundaries to help the Democratic Party regain control of the U.S. House of Representatives by targeting Bartlett’s 6th District seat. Gone is a big chunk of his base of rural and exurban commuters in Frederick and Carroll counties. In their place are hundreds of thousands of new, mostly Democratic voters in Montgomery County. Bartlett said the district now has 185,000 Democrats, 139,000 Republicans and 79,000 independents.[/break1]washingtonpost.com/local/dc-politics/gops-bartlett-in-fight-for-political-survival-in-district-tailored-for-democratic-challenger/2012/10/26/c70e36a2-1fb2-11e2-9cd5-b55c38388962_story.html]http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/dc- ... story.htmlDespite the good intentions of Maryland Democratic lawmakers Bartlett is essentially in a dead heat.http://i1143.photobucket.com/albums/n63 ... -10-29.jpg[/break1]realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/house/md/maryland_6th_district_bartlett_vs_delaney-3313.html]http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls ... -3313.htmlWith apologies to Sen Orrin Hatch, Congressman Bartlett is one tough ole bird. If Bartlett wins this race the Democrats need either a better candidate or just simply wait until he croaks.

OTOH should John Delaney defeat Congressman Bartlett, Maryland legislators could pull a Tom Delay and redraw the boundaries for all 8 congressional districts. This time instead of making the 6th district heavily Democratic, make it the 1st so Congressman Andy Harris (R-MD 01) doesn't miss out on any of the fun.
