It would be an exceptionally nice favor to the people of Maine if he would resign, which is why he won't. He hasn't done anything nice or good for Maine the entire time he's been in office, why should he start now.

The fact that you sincerely and wholeheartedly believe that the “Law of Gravity” is unconstitutional and a violation of your sovereign rights, does not absolve you of adherence to it.

Yep, he's decided Maine can't get along without him and all that talk about resignation was just rumors.

Regarding rumors of resignation, to paraphrase Mark Twain: "The reports of my political demise are greatly exaggerated." #mepolitics

This is a guy who really knows how to make an ugly situation go away: You just declare it over and move on. :notlistening:
Portland Press Herald wrote:After his meeting with Gattine, the governor invited a handful of selected local television and radio reporters into his office. The Portland Press Herald was not among the media outlets allowed in, but on video shared by WCSH-TV, the governor said he apologized to Gattine and was ready to put the matter behind him.

“I will never talk about it again,” he said.

He also said he would never talk to the press again, a threat he has made in the past.

And the clincher? To seal the deal, you announce that you are seeking "spiritual guidance". If you're a Republican, there's no better shield than spiritual guidance. (In contrast, if you're a Hollywood-type celebrity you have to check into rehab for a couple of weeks.)

Pssst, Hillary! Just tell 'em you're ready to put the email matter behind you and promise you'll never talk about it again. Yeah, that'll work.

In the Trump era anything is true if enough people believe it.
