I don't know if the word 'ironic' is appropriate or not, but it's worth noting that six months ago we were worried that The Don was going to get intelligence briefings and now we are worried that The Don is not going to get intelligence briefings.

Given Trump's penchant for gilding everything in his condo, I wonder if the bathroom fixtures, especially the shower heads, are gold plated?

CLAIM: An episode of the 1950s western TV series 'Trackdown' featured a snake oil salesman named 'Trump' who promised to build a wall in order to prevent the end of the world.

TRUE
ORIGIN:In November 2016, a clip from an episode of the 1950s western television series Trackdown was published to YouTube, along with the claim that it "predicted Donald Trump" by featuring a snake oil salesman character named "Trump" who claimed that only he could prevent the end of the world ... by building a wall around the town:

Narrator: The people were ready to believe. Like sheep they ran to the slaughterhouse. And waiting for them was the high priest of fraud.

Trump: I am the only one. Trust me. I can build a wall around your homes that nothing can penetrate.

Townperson: What do we do? How can we save ourselves?

Trump: You ask how do you build that wall. You ask, and I'm here to tell you.

I seems to remember that one picture was posted in one of the threads, but here is the video:

Former Republican Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert filed a motion against one of his sexual abuse victims saying that he should be repaid more than $1 million in hush money.

Hastert is currently in the middle of a 15-month sentence at a federal prison hospital for violating banking laws while making payments to “Individual A.”

Now 75, Hastert filed a motion this week claiming that the alleged victim actually owes him the $1.7 million as well as attorney fees for breaching the agreement and speaking to authorities about the abuse.

Isn't that like asking the police to help you get your money back after a drug deal rip-off?

Robert Reich
January 21 at 7:23am ·
I had breakfast recently with a friend who's a former Republican member of Congress. Here's what he said:

Him: Trump is no Republican. He’s just a big fat ego.

Me: Then why didn’t you speak out against him during the campaign?

Him: You kidding? I was surrounded by Trump voters. I’d have been shot.

Me: So what now? What are your former Republican colleagues going to do?

Him (smirking): They’ll play along for a while.

Me: A while?

Him: They’ll get as much as they want – tax cuts galore, deregulation, military buildup, slash all those poverty programs, and then get to work on Social Security and Medicare – and blame him. And he’s such a fool he’ll want to take credit for everything.

Me: And then what?

Him (laughing): They like Pence.

Me: What do you mean?

Him: Pence is their guy. They all think Trump is out of his mind.

Me: So what?

Him: So the moment Trump does something really dumb – steps over the line – violates the law in a big stupid clumsy way … and you know he will ...

Me: They impeach him?

Him: You bet. They pull the trigger.

I've been thinking about impeachment a little, and my first reaction was, Pence is equally bad.

But then I realized, if the GOP impeaches a GOP president, it bites a serious hole in the GOP canoe.

The pendulum is gonna swing back the other way in '18 and '20. I can feel it, Dave.

Pence has nowhere near the "charisma" of Trump. If he had run a campaign like Trump he would have gotten zero votes. He'd have been a laughingstock among Republicans and Trump fan club.

I hope we can overturn Congress and make Trump suffer the last two years of his term with a Congress that will not do his bidding. Can you imagine what it would be like to watch that man fume and sputter and tie himself in knots over the fact that he can't bend a group of people to his will? That would be simply delicious.

The deep south will never change
But maybe if the denizens in the Hootervilles of Fly-Over America feel pain and suffer from his policies... it could happen. If it stays the same or gets better, forget about it.
