Coincidentally arrested in Matt Gaetz' district.

Police Arrest Teen Accused of Helping GOP Strategist’s Underage Sex Trafficking
Law enforcement in Florida has arrested Gisela Castro Medina, a 19-year-old accused of helping a wealthy, young Republican strategist in Minnesota prey on girls and recruit them for paid sex.

She faces the same criminal charges as her alleged pal, GOP operative Anton Lazzaro: sex trafficking of a minor, attempt to commit sex trafficking, and obstruction of justice.

This young assistant happens to also too be a Republican of sorts...
Minnesota College Republicans disavow leader tied to sex trafficking scandal
Bob Brigham
August 14, 2021

The Minnesota College Republicans are disavowing a local leader after her arrest in an alleged child sex trafficking scheme with a prominent GOP strategist.

"The 19-year-old new chair of the University of St. Thomas College Republicans has been arrested in Florida on allegations she aided a prominent state Republican activist in recruiting and trafficking minors for sex, according to a news release and jail records," the Minnesota Star Tribune reported Saturday. "On Saturday, the Minnesota College Republicans issued a news release saying Gisela Castro Medina was arrested, along with Anton 'Tony' Lazzaro, 30, on suspicion of 'obstruction of justice, sex trafficking, and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of underage victims.'"

The state chapter of College Republicans sided with the victims.

"Our prayers go out to the victims of Anton Lazzaro and Gisela Medina — we believe you. We stand with you. May justice be served," the group said.

That was a good video, but he'll get re-elected in Kentucky. He has an R after his name. I know they have a Dem for governor, but Kentucky just seems to vote R recently. And I question McConnell's re-election last year.

Before the Democratic shift on civil rights during Truman and Johnson's administration and the Nixon/Reagan southern strategy to pick up those former democrats, politically it was the "solid south." They always voted Democratic and often kept Senators and Representatives in office for a very, very long time (funny how many of them screen "term limits" now thought those limits are only for the opposition, not for the ones they like). Now, the solid south is Republican. Same behavior, different name.

Movement for Black Lives: Feds targeted BLM protesters

The federal government deliberately targeted Black Lives Matter protesters via heavy-handed criminal prosecutions in an attempt to disrupt and discourage the global movement that swept the nation last summer in the wake of the Minneapolis police killing of George Floyd, according to a new report released Wednesday by The Movement for Black Lives.

Movement leaders and experts said the prosecution of protesters over the past year continues a century-long practice by the federal government, rooted in structural racism, to suppress Black social movements via the use of surveillance tactics and other mechanisms.

Titled “Struggle For Power: The Ongoing Persecution of Black Movement By The U.S. Government," the report details how policing has been used historically as a major tool to deter Black people from engaging in their right to protest and weaken efforts to draw attention to issues impacting Black Americans. It also drew a comparison to how the government used Counterintelligence Program techniques to “disrupt the work of the Black Panther Party and other organizations fighting for Black liberation.”

In the report, published in partnership with the Creating Law Enforcement Accountability & Responsibility clinic at City University of New York School of Law, The Movement for Black Lives is calling for amnesty for all protesters involved in the nationwide protests.

The group, also known as M4BL, is demanding reparations from the government that includes an acknowledgment and an apology for the long history of targeting movements “in support of Black life and Black liberation.” It also is pushing for passage of the BREATHE Act, proposed federal legislation that would radically transform the nation’s criminal justice system, and ending the use of Joint Terrorism Task Forces in local communities.

Florida candidate recruited by Republican to confuse voters accepts plea deal in election fraud case
Tom Boggioni
August 24, 2021

According to a report from the Miami Herald, a Florida man who was recruited by a former Republican Party lawmaker to run in a local election and siphon off votes from the Democratic incumbent has taken a plea deal in a voter fraud case.

Alexis Rodriguez, an auto parts salesman, was encouraged to run in an election pitting Republican Ileana Garcia -- who won the seat in the state senate by a slim 32 votes -- against incumbent Democrat José Javier Rodríguez by former state Sen. Frank Artiles (R) in an effort to siphon off votes due to their similar names.

According to the Herald, "Investigators say Artiles, a Republican, funneled more than $40,000 to Rodriguez in exchange for him changing his party affiliation from Republican and qualifying for the ballot as a no-party candidate in Senate District 37. They also say Rodriguez submitted false information on his sworn candidate documents, marking that he lived in a Palmetto Bay home when he was actually renting a house in Boca Raton at the time of the election. Knowingly filing an incorrect address with the state — or assisting someone to do so — is a third-degree felony."

Rodriguez admitted his complicity in the scheme in court, then apologized during a hearing before Judge Andrea Ricker Wolfson.

After pleading guilty to four felony charges including "conspiracy to make campaign contributions in excess of legal limits and accepting and making those excess campaign contributions," Rodriguez told the court, "I would like to publicly offer a sincere apology to the residents of Florida District Senate 37 including [Democrat incumbent] Sen. José Javier Rodríguez, the people of Miami-Dade County and the state of Florida, and anyone else who was affected by my actions."

'His face was in your windshield': South Dakota AG faces impeachment charges as new details of fatal crash emerge
The state attorney general, Jason Ravnsborg, has said he thought he hit a deer, but investigators noted the dead man's glasses were found in his car

PIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota state attorney general who is facing misdemeanor charges for striking and killing a man is facing impeachment charges and calls to resign after disturbing new details about the case were made public.

The A.G., Jason Ravnsborg, initially told police he'd thought he'd struck a deer in the September, 2020 incident and that he didn't discover he'd hit a person until he return the scene of the accident the next day.

In interviews made public by Gov. Kristi Noem on Tuesday, investigators suggested to Ravnsborg that he should have known better, because the dead man's broken glasses were found inside his Ford Taurus.

"His face was in your windshield, Jason, think about that,” one of the investigators told him in the interview.

The Republican attorney general faces three misdemeanor charges but no felonies in the September death of 55-year-old Joseph Boever.

I read somewhere that he was on a right wing website on his phone at the time of the accident, so I guess it may be plausible that he didn't know he hit a person? It's a stretch though.

Ummm... doesn’t seem right.

Markwayne Mullin, disappointing former great white hope of the birthers, definitely behaving oddly.

"Mullin told the [Tajik] embassy that he planned to fly from Tblisi, Georgia, into Tajikistan's capital, Dushanbe, in the next few hours and needed the top diplomat's help, according to the two U.S. officials familiar with the incident, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to disclose private conversations about a sensitive matter," reported Tayler Pager and John Hudson. "Embassy officials told Mullin they could not assist him in skirting Tajikistan's laws on cash limits on his way to visiting one of the most dangerous places on earth."

The Post's sources said that Mullin was "outraged by the response" and even threatened U.S. ambassador John Mark Pommersheim and embassy staff and "demanding to know the name of staff members he was speaking with."

According to the report, Mullin previously attempted to fly into Afghanistan through Greece, but was rebuffed by U.S. officials on that occasion as well.
