My daughter picked up a new rescue kitty today. They're calling her Mustache Sally.
What a gorgeous cat. Her name is clever and fitting.

Yeah, mah kittehs filed a 47-page complaint in federable court against the clocks changing.

They're being fed an hour later and they know it.

And there are three of them, and we're senior citizens. They can do something about it.

Siri is fine. She has a self feeder, but not a self petter. You must pet Siri while she eats. Pancake the dog is MUCH more disturbed about the time change.

I assplained them that in the spring, on the 13th of March, to be exact, we will change the clocks again, and this time they get fed an hour earlier instead.

Which is wonderful news for kittehs katz! A whole hour early, OMG, OMG, OMG!!1! :cheer1:

But if we cancel the clock change we just had, we will have to cancel the one in the spring, too also. And that won't be any fun at all. No more wonderful news for kitteh katz, boo hoo. :(

Besides, at this time of year you can only move the clocks backwards. They don't go the other way.*

* They're cats, it's OK to lie to them. They didn't pay attention to a word I said anyway. :towel:

I hear that. We have to change the dogs' feeding times by 10 minutes at a time for a week until settling down on the daylight/non-daylight time.

Otherwise they're intolerably pestiferous. ;)

Cats track their owners’ movements, research finds
Findings of Japanese study back idea that cats retain a mental representation of their owners

Linda Geddes
Wed 10 Nov 2021 19.00 GMT

If you’ve ever pondered whether your pet cat gives a whiskers about your whereabouts, research may have an answer: cats appear to track their owners as they move about the house and are surprised if they turn up somewhere they’re not expecting them.

The finding supports the idea that cats retain a mental representation of their owners, even when they can’t see them; a crucial bridge to higher cognitive processes such as forward planning and imagination.

Cats are notoriously inscrutable creatures. Although previous research has suggested that cats will search in the correct place if food is seen to disappear, and expect to see their owner’s face if they hear their voice, it was unclear how this ability translated into real life. “It is [also] said that cats are not as interested in their owners as dogs are, but we had doubts about this point,” said Dr Saho Takagi at the University of Kyoto, Japan.

We got a new stove here at Maybelot. Stormy approves. (Don’t worry, that spot she’s standing on doesn’t get hot.) After she checked it out she quickly lost interest, which is probably a good thing.
