As they speed through the finish, the flags go down
The fans get up and they get out of town
The arena is empty except for one man
Still driving and striving as fast as he can
The sun has gone down and the moon has come up
And long ago somebody left with the cup
But he's driving and striving and hugging the turns
And thinking of someone for whom he still burns

And, as the blog suggested, this baby splitting is likely intended to discourage anyone from appealing, i.e., if Lake doesn't let this sleeping dog lie and nonetheless appeals (as promised), expect the defendants also to appeal.
The judicial version of an offer she can't refuse.

Vito Corleone approves.

I am not surprised. Judge Thompson kept bending over backwards to let Lake's attorneys present hearsay evidence. Then he said an unreasonable deadline for motions for sanctions and fees while denying any right of the defendants to reply. If I were one who had to work on Christmas to gather data and write these motions I would be saying a big FU to this judge and not under my breath. :fuckyou:

Paul Andrew Mitchell filed a late motion, of course he did, to intervene which was denied.

Maybe Kari Lake will believe it, if Robert Loggia tells her.

Which, given his paternal example, is damn near miraculous

Ya know, G Gordon was clinically insane, evil to the core and was really friendly with the 1933-1945 German version Nazi's, not so much with their pale cousin white supremacists posers in America. For all that, I have always considered him an honorable man in his own twisted way.

If she honestly thinks she won the gubnor ship, she ought to act like it.

I have mansplained this to her a milyon times - Fake It Till You Make It.

Call yourself Governor Lake, and make everybody around you call you Governor.

Get some nice stationery. Get a little desk plaque: Governor Kari Lake. Get an official photo in a nice frame. Get the trappings of the office, and the office will follow, girlfriend!

Name your cabinet. Issue orders to the State Police, they love to be included like that. Get a limo and start showing up at official functions.

I mean, girl. Lawsuits are never enough. You gotta walk the talk.

I'm glad we had this little chat. Now get out there and GOVERN!

Have the election deniers ever heard of the story "The Little Boy who Cried Wolf"?

Eventually people will not just stop listening to the wails from the election deniers, but the constant misuse of taxpayer money to pay for all the court costs will, at some point, cause a serious backlash towards the 'little boys'.

No, but they know about Chad Wolf. You know, the guy who was named the acting United States secretary of homeland security by the crook in November 2019. His appointment was ruled unlawful in November 2020. He had a whole year of being a illegal boss man.

Sort of off topic...

I'm curious if anyone has a feel for how the AZSC might rule.

It's entirely GOP, yet they have term.limits, so they are not totally immune from the consequences of their rulings.

Ducey stacked the court with cronies, 5 of 7, including an Arpaio crony (Bill Montgomery.) So I dunno, but it doesn’t give me warm fuzzies.

Selection of justices

The Chief Justice is chosen for a five-year term by the court, and is eligible for re-election. They supervise the administration of all the inferior courts. They are Chairman of the Commission on Appellate Court Appointments, which nominates candidates to fill vacancies in the appellate courts. If the Governor fails to appoint one of the nominated candidates within sixty days of their names being submitted to her or him, the Chief Justice makes the appointment.

The Vice Chief Justice, who acts as Chief Justice in the latter's "absence or incapacity," is chosen by the court for a term determined by the court.[6]

Justices are selected by a modified form of the Missouri Plan. A bipartisan commission considers applicants and sends a list of nominees to the governor. The governor is required by law to appoint from this list based on merit, without regard to party affiliation. Justices are then retained for an initial period, after which they are subject to a retention election. If the justice wins the election, his/her term is six years.

I suspect that for some this is kinda the point. They are increasingly referencing things that mirror real voter suppression that minority groups have been complaining about for decades. By turning such problems into a joke, they do real long term damage in terms of fighting real disenfranchisement.
